Kendall sighed as the vegetables welcomed Brocc.
“There’s no place I’d rather be than with you guys,” Brocc said.
The broccoli nodded his head to Kendall.
Kendall gave him a weak wave, then looked away.
Didn’t matter.
Didn’t matter whether Brocc was here or not. Kendall was still in a figurative pickle.
He noticed another vegetable with Brocc. She was a beet, and she looked happy go-lucky. A little too happy for this damn place. The last thing he needed right now was extra positivity.
The beet waved with both hands, her golden bangles jingling.
“I’m Lara Stella, everyone. It’s soooo nice to meet you. I can’t wait to get to know you all!”
