CHAPTER 12
The hamburger hound roared and leaped into the air.
Kendall and Celerity split up as it landed between them and left a big crater in the ground. The hound, huge and mutated with beefy arms and legs, was relentless and had seemingly unlimited stamina. It swiped a paw at Celerity, but she grabbed it with her whip and yanked it toward her, knocking the beast off balance.
“I didn’t sign up for this,” Kendall said.
Celerity ran to him and cut the ropes that bound his hands. “I need your help.”
The hound swiped at her again, but she backflipped away and Kendall jumped back.
“I ain’t gonna help,” Kendall said. “Nice knowing you, vegetable!”
Kendall ran away, but the hound landed in front of him. The impact knocked him to his knees.
