COLLISION

ZAHRA'S POV You know, i always thought love was about dinner dates, good morning kisses, breakfast in bed, flowers and lots more. I never knew there were lots of sacrifices to be paid and more importantly, waking up to choose that same person even when they terrify you. I'd always picture my imaginary man as dark skinned, tall, handsome, a lover of books and a man with a presence and a pull you felt seeing him for the first time. And jayden, he was the reason i left my diary behind. I would want to drop my books at his feet over and over again. BETWEEN SHELVES i was wandering through the F section, eyes scanning for a worn copy of pride and prejudice by Jane Austen. The kind of love story that messes with your head, when it happened. I didn't see him, i only felt the violence of the impact as i rounded the corner. The heavy books, slipped from my hands like falling leaves. " Oh! I'm sorry, " i gaspsed, my heart slamned against my ribs. I dropped to the floor to gather them, but another hand was already there . It looked like it belonged to someone who gets away with murder, strong, steady and calm. I think he was made for the moment. As he handed me my books, our fingers brushed, and a signal I wasn't prepared for, shot straight through my skin. I looked up for a moment, everyone in the library seemed to have vanished. Just his eyes, watching me with a mix amusement and something strictly intense. You are a lover of books, he said. His voice was a low rumble that filled the silence. It wasn't just a question, it felt like he saw through me. I am. I whispered, clutching the books to my chest like an umbrella against a storm I didn't see coming. Be careful bookworm. He whispered, pinning me with his gaze. From this moment, you're MINE. Nausea or maybe attraction hit me harder than the collision. It was the arrogant thing have ever heard. Yet, as I watched him walk towards the exit door, I felt it with sinking certainty, he was right. I had fallen first and I had fallen hard. UNKNOWN The walk back from the library felt so bright and warmly that I could barely noticed things happening around as I passed. My mind was locked, he was all I could see and think of. When I got home, my room felt different, Smaller and quieter. I stripped off the days stress and stepped into the shower. The cool water hits my skin, but it couldn't wash away the heat of the moment in the stacks. As the droplets tracks down my arms, I held my right hand up, staring at the fingers that had brushed against his. I leaned my head against the damp tiles, bringing those fingers to my lips. I kissed the spot where his skin had met mine, then folded my hand into a tight fist. Hugging it to my chest as if I could trap his energy there forever. I changed into my favourite silk nighties, the soft, peach one that felt like a second skin and climbed the bed. The sheets were cool, but my racing heart wouldn't settle. I lay there, mindlessly scrolling through my phone, my thumb hovering over a story site, but I wasn't reading. I was replaying his voice. “ from this moment, you're MINE”. Then my phone ringed, the screen lighting up with an unknown number. My breath hitched. I hesitated, then swiped accept. Hello? I whispered, my voice shook like I was scared. “ You haven't fallen yet, have you?“ The voice was a deep rumble that made my toes curl. It was HIM. How……. How did you get my number? I asked. Sitting up straight, the silk of my nightie sliding against my head board. He chuckled, his laugh warm and a little dangerous. I told you, am a god and I will always find you. Besides, you should be more careful. You forgot your diary at the library while running away from me, did I make you uncomfortable? He asked. I felt very foolish because I couldn't speak and I hated how my stomach tipped. He chuckled again, and finally said come get it Alvey.
