But the billions are just a facade. In the shadow, I am the head of a viper syndicate, a secret organization that handles the investigations the law is too weak to touch. I grew up as an orphan in a world of ruins. I watched my parents die, and the nausea of that guilt never left me. I blame myself for their silence. Because of that, I am cold. I am dangerous. I am the man people pray they never meet in a dark alley. I watched her go. Zahra Alvey. Watching her walk away was like a bone cracking in slow motion. I wanted to roar, to grab her and force her to see how furious I was but her eyes were full of a strict pain i had caused. I slammed the door of my Bugatti and dialed a number. One ring. “ find him,” I said. The one who took her purse. Bus route 14. Mid town stop. Yesterday, 16: 42. “ on it boss.“ “ Alive. I want him alive when I get there.“ Click. Notes are for men who ask permission. WAREHOUSE The warehouse was located in an uncharted sector of the shipping docks. Inside, the air smelled of salt and “ old blood “ the thief was tied to a steel chair, a low level parasite who didn't know he had just signed his death warrant. I walked in, my black boots echoing against the concrete. The man looked at me and his blood ran cold instantly. “ you sat next to her on the bus,” I said, my voice a deadly calm. “ why did u touch what belongs to me?“ “I……didn't!“ He stammared, his heart rate visible in his neck. I didn't argue. I leaned in and shattered his jaw with one high voltage punch. The violence was therapeutic. He began to scream, confessing, through the blood that he had spent her money and lost the phone to another thief. I turned to my men. “ break his fingers first. One by one. I want him to feel the glitch in every nerves for every tears she shed today. The sound of snapping bone filled the warehouse. I watched with cold eyes as they use pliers to remove his finger nails. a price for those who steal from a blackwood. “ the phone is gone? “ I whispered into his ears. “ then your life is gone.“ I stood up, adjusting my black suit “ finish him. Cut him into pieces. Package it in a box and send it to his family. Let it be a warning to the city I looked at my men. My eyes glowing with a dark sovereignty. “ if a single hair on her head is touched, or another person makes her cry, they wont see the dawn of the next day. She is MINE.“
