27 - Edward POV

1296 Words
BANG! The doors smash into the walls, rattling on their hinges, as I thunder into the meeting room. "GIVE US THE ROOM!" I command as I halt in front of the brothers. Scampering and scraping of chairs could be heard behind me as everyone rushed outside, not wanting to face my wrath a second longer than they had to. Unwritten rule of our clan - don't f*ck with the Captain when he's p*ssed. And, as of right now, I was royally so. "Edward, a pleasure as always." The only man who kept his cool when I was off the rails was Chester. He smiled up at me, amused, as Arthur darted his eyes between the two of us. I only allowed him to stay in case things got too far, for both me and Chester were not the type to back down from brawls. "I hope you are going to pay for repairing that." He asks, gesturing to the entrance I had just stormed through. "We need to move on the wolves. NOW!" I go to bang the table, but Arthur grabs my fist as it is reeled back; probably thought I was going to punch his brother out of anger. "And why is that?" "Because that b*stard got my daughter pregnant." The look on their faces gave me an answer that I didn't want. "You knew?" "Maybe..." He smugly answers before taking a sip out of his tea cup. "Bullsh*t!" The teacup is flung across the room without a seconds' thought. Chester, still holding his hand up where he had the teacup in his grasp, turns and looks at its scattered remains on the floor. "Shame. I liked that cup." "Edward, please. Take a seat so we -" Arthur tries to mediate, but I give him a deadly stare, which halts him in his tracks. "You both knew my daughter was in with the wolves, and you did nothing." I lean down on the table and stare between the two of them. "Now, thanks to your lack of movement, my daughter plans to give birth to a half breed." "Get her to abort it." "She doesn't want to." "Then force her to have an abortion." Chester gives a deadpan response, as if it was the simplest thing in the world. "Easier said than done." "Well, your options are either get her to have the abortion, whether she wants to or not, or become a grandfather to the future Alpha of White Crescent." Chester leans back in his chair as he clasps his hands in front of him. "This is your worst nightmare come true." I have had enough of that smug look on his face. THWACK! My hand stung as I backhanded Chester across the face, causing his head to snap backwards against the force. THUNK! My moment was cut short by being tackled to the ground and a leg being pressed on my neck. The reason why - Arthur. He had vaulted the table after the strike and had me pinned to the ground. Removing his handgun from the inside of his coat, he points it at the centre of my forehead. "I'm pretty sure we had a conversation last week about what we would do to protect our family." I push my forehead up into the barrel of the gun as we coldly stare at each other. "We did. He deserved that." "You seem to be testing your boundaries with your boss lately. Do we need to remind you to stay in line?" "Do you need reminding of your duties? Protecting our own includes our families, yet you two stood idly by when it came to mine. Shall I do the same if they come after yours?" I was definitely pushing some boundaries, but they had been careless and lazy whilst I had been away. Age must be getting the better of them. "If the occasion ever arose, I would do everything within my power to protect them." "I'll believe it when I see it." "That's enough now, brother." Chester, who had been watching our exchange from the comfort of his chair, orders Arthur as he comes over to clasp his shoulder. Arthur rises to his feet and looks to his brother. They give each other a nod before turning their attention back to me. I go to push myself up, but a boot is placed on my chest by Chester. "You want to keep me on the ground so I'm easier to handle?" I couldn't help but retort. They always referred to me as a caged animal, waiting for the owner to set me free so I can go on my rampage; this is why they sent me to America since we had been quiet. "You need to learn patience, my captain. Our informant-" "I don't like her- hhrrr!" I groan as Chester pushes his foot hard down on my chest, making it harder to breath for a second until he eases off. " - has informed us that the pack plan to move to their new packhouse next weekend. A convoy during the night to be precise to raise less suspicion." Arthur places a report on my chest as Chester moves his foot away. I pick it up and start scanning through it. Looks like the pack are moving to Newstead Abbey from their hideout at Church Waslop. "We will pick them off on route to their new grounds. They will be strung out so harder for them to defend their lines - more information is to come as to how their lines will be distributed." They both crouch low over me. They used this as intimidation technique during interrogation since they both had large, broad fisques. "Assemble the men you need once we have this info to take out that convoy." I glance between the two of them once I am done reading. "Will that be all, sirs?" They give a nod and slowly rise to their feet, allowing me to do so as we brush ourselves down. "You could always see if the Coven can provide you a potion for your little half breed situation." Chester waves a hand over his shoulder as he starts to leave the room. "We do have leverage over them after all." That was not a bad idea. I think to myself. I turn to Arthur, he had a studious look on his face as he eyed me up and down. "I'll remember my station in the future, if you remember yours." He let's out a huff at my comment. "You can be a real assh*le sometimes." He remarks before following his brother out. I look over the report again - I had a week to get a plan sorted and to take out as many of them as I could whilst they travelled. Ideal world, we would take them all out, but some of the men were still a little green so couldn't count on them too much. My priority - get Abby out of there and kill the man who knocked her up. God, why did you make my grandchild a half breed? I turn to the heavens and ask the Lord. Who was I kidding? I've committed sins upon sins. God wouldn't listen to a man like me, but the Devil probably would. Might be his twisted way of getting revenge. I sigh to myself as I pull my thoughts back to the present. I clearly have been involved in this world for too long. I think to myself as I sulk out of the room ans make my way home. It will be the first time in ages that I will be having the bed to myself. But I will get my wife and daughter to see reason. One day.
