39 - Colt POV

1344 Words
My eyes slowly stretch open as the sun creeps through the curtains. Our new room had been renovated to shades of white and blue, our pack colours. The four post bed sat proudly against the back wall - windows to my right, our wardrobes, and ensuite to the left, little sitting area and doors ahead of me. I looked down to see Abby tucked under my arm as she slept soundly. She seemed... calm, considering how yesterday went. I'm surprised that little head of her hasn't exploded. My free hand lowered and rested on her stomach. I could feel our pup. A wave of emotions came over me - I must have been smiling and crying because, the next thing I knew, Abby was leaning up to kiss away my tears. "Our pup is getting bigger by the day." I turn to her, nothing but love passed between us. "It won't be long until we find out if we are having a boy or a girl." "Do you have a preference?" "No. Boy or girl, I just hope they are happy and loved." "Well, it's a good thing that they have us then." She pulls me down so thar are lips merge together. Our arms wrap around each other as I slowly roll on top of her. Her mark drew my gaze. I ran a trail of kisses towards it before I clasped onto it, causing Abby to gasp in a mixture of shock and pleasure. "Oh, God! Colt!" Her body squirmed underneath me as I kept sucking on it, my hips grinding down into hers so that- Sorry to bother you, Colt. But the Council are on a video call in the meeting room. They have requested all our presence. Austin's mindlink made my eyes roll into the back of my head as I let out an annoyed groan. "What's wrong?" "Austin mindlinked - the Council wants a meeting now." I slowly push myself up and make my way over to the wardrobes to grab some clothes. "About last night?" "Most certainly. We had to inform them once we had fully moved here, so they would have been informed of what happened on the convoy." She mulls over her thoughts before getting up out of bed, sauntering over to her wardrobes. I couldn't help but stare - the way she looked and moved just does stuff for me. "So, casual clothes or do we need to go formal?" She turns to me. "You don't have to come if you don't want to." "If it's about last night, then I most certainly need to come." She gave me a look which hinted not to argue with her anymore on the matter as she quickly put on her underwear before doing the same with her top and trousers. I pull down the boxers I was wearing to bed to switch them out for a fresh pair. I catch Abby staring at me. "Enjoying the view." "Always." Abby smirks at me. "Not like you don't do the same. I saw you checking me out just then." I hold up my hands in surrender. "Caught me red handed." Finishing getting ready, we walked, hand in hand, down to the meeting room. Abby stared at the walls, taking in all the details and furniture that we strode passed. "You can hardly tell they were here." She let's her thoughts be heard as we arrived outside the meeting room. "Good. For they are a horrible memory now. Nothing more." Pushing open the doors, I can see Austin, Naomi, Dan and Siobhan already seated either side of the table, leaving the two chairs at the head of the table free. The Council were all on a screen at the far end of the room. "Morning all." I pull out a seat for Abby, tucking her under the table once she settles before taking my own. "Morning Alpha Colt and Abby. Lovely to see you again." Sue Grecan greets us as she turns back to her notes. "So, I hear that the convoy last night had unwanted visitors." "That is correct." "And one of them just so happens to be Abby's father!?" The Council all turn their eyes towards Abby. You could see her shrink in her seat slightly under her gaze before she speaks. "That is sadly correct." "And you aren't connected to the Hunters? Not feeding them information?" Elder Marianna asks. I bolted up out of my seat, causing it to tumble backwards in my wake. "How dare you accuse my mate of working with the enemy!" Abby grabs onto my arm. "It's OK. It's understandable why she asked the question." She slowly tugs me back down. I pick up the chair and pop it back in its place. Flopping down on my seat, Abby pulls me into the crook of her neck - I take deep inhales to calm myself down as she addresses the Council. "The answer is no. I had no idea that my father was a Hunter, nor do I condone his actions. As a matter of fact, I have cut ties with him as he wants both my mate, my child and my friends dead." "Thank you, Abby, and sorry for any offense caused." "It is quite alright, Elder Marianne." I lift my head up and turn back to the screen. "We had quite a few pack members injured last night, but only one was severe - Maeve McGraw." I clasp Abby's hand under the table, brushing my thumb along her knuckles. "How is she?" Octavius leans closer to his camera. "She had to have emergency surgery last night to remove the bullet. It had pierced her Aorta. She is now stable but she lost a lot of blood, so it is uncertain whether she will wake..." Dan debriefs, glancing at Abby every now and then with sorrow in his eyes. Abby just took deep inhales, I recognised our breathing technique, to calm her worries. The rest of the meeting went along at a mundane pace - we spoke about what we planned to do with our safe house at Church Warslop whilst citing the improvements we had done to Newstead Abbey. "Excellent, anything else we need to know?" Sue Grecan asks the group. We all shake our heads in response. "Good, because I have two bits of information to inform you all about." We all sit forward in our chairs. It was never good when the Council had to inform you of stuff - that is what I learnt from my parents and my current stint as Alpha. "One, we have granted a permit for Abby to carry a silver dagger for defensive means only - it will be delivered to you shortly." "Thank you, Madame Prime Minister." I take it back, there is some good news the Council can give you. "And the second bit of news." For the first time ever, the Council, the ever imposing powerful beings of our respective races, seemed... uncomfortable. All the ranked members looked at each with concern. The eyes of the Council shifted and... refocused back on Abby. "It concerns your former friend, Gabe." Abby sat up with concern. "What about him?" The Prime Minister lets out a sigh before she speaks again. "I'm sorry Abby, but Gabe has escaped." Her hand trembled, along with the rest if her body as the information sunk in. "Where is he now?" "He's somewhere in America, but we don't know where. But, we believe he may try to come back here, and get revenge on your pack." "How do you know that?" Austin asked. "It was all he ever spoke about whilst he was locked up - he wants you all dead, and he wants to save you, Abby, until last." Abby had heard enough. Her grasp slipped from mine as she bolted out of the room. I dart after her, leaving the Council and the ranked members of White Crescent. One thing was for certain - another threat to my family had just come back into play.
