7 - Edward POV

1351 Words
"WELL? DO YOU HAVE AN ANSWER FOR ME OR NOT?" How could they? How could they let this happen? I leave, under their orders, to help our American counterparts deal with their little vermin infestation down in Houston. My instructions were clear - protect Abby at all costs. I should have known that would have been too difficult. To come back and find a bunch of werewolves, not to mention those McGraw witches - would have to have a word with those two later as well, fixing up my garage. Then, to make it all worse, finding out that my Abby, MY DAUGHTER, was with the Alpha of the local pack. F*cking Colton Harris. I'm going to kill that b*stard. Her efforts to hide her mark didn't go unnoticed, wearing a round neck top. Unlucky for her, I'm trained to notice them. I knew what this meant for her - she was mated to an Alpha wolf and would be seen as Pack Luna. Not to mention, any children that she has with that mutt would be half breeds. I can't have that. The cherry on top of this fiasco, my sweet, innocent Helen inviting them for lunch. Two of them came in the end, Colt and this Jason guy who apparently works at Mansfield Today with Abby; another place that I will need to look into if they are hiring supernaturals. I am thankful to the Lord Almighty that they all didn't come to the meal but having to sit in the presence of two of them was already my worst nightmare. All I kept thinking about was how I needed to see Chester and get him to explain this whole situation to me. Hence why, I now had a hold of Chester, by his collar, towering over him as I demand answers out of him. Well, I didn't say I was going to be calm about it, even if he is my boss. "WELL!? I'M WAITING!" I give him a cold stare as he returns the favour. We were used to giving this look to our enemies, right before we were about to kill them. Chester straightens out the sleeve on the arm that is holding him down. "Now Edward, I understand you are upset but remember who you are talking to." Click I side eye the end of a barrel as it is slowly pushed closer to my temple. The wielder of the gun - Arthur, Deputy commander and Chester's brother. I huff at him. "You know you are the softer one of the two. That is why you are second in command." "True, but we also know how dangerous people get when it comes to protecting family, don't we?" He muses but you could hear the threat in his words as he nudges me with the gun. I let Chester go, allowing him to resettle in his chair. I turn to take my seat but an image on the table catches my eye. Heavy breathing, I stare at the image of my own daughter being... mated... and f*cking marked by that Alpha mutt. "So you spied on her and didn't prevent this!?" I shove the photo in Chester's face. We had known each other for years, he was like family to me, as was the rest of the Hunter clan who sat at this table. But where was he when mine needed protecting? "Actually, our new informant took this image?" And he points towards the other end of the table. My eyes turn before hardening, a cold expression falls on my face as a stare at the woman at the end of the table who cold salutes me in response. "Is there any part of my life that doesn't contain a pest in it?" "I would watch your tone if I were you. Don't want to hurt a valuable resource." She gives me an amused smile as she leans back in her chair, clasping her hands behind her head. "Your daughter looked like she enjoyed that, by the way." She gestures at the photo. I go to pull out my gun - I wanted this b*tch dead - but Chester grabs my hand and restrains me, preventing me from putting her six feet under. "We are striking a deal with her - she wants to see White Crescent fall just as much as you do so hear her out." Chester whispers in my ear, trying to calm my temper as he slowly ushers me into my seat. "What deal? Why would she want her own pack dead?" I seethe back at him but I never took my eyes off of the wolf. I don't trust wolves - never have - so I was going to be keeping my eye on this one. "She doesn't see them as her pack. Not after Abby killed her brother who was a member of a rival pack." That caught my attention. "Abby killed a wolf?" "My brother." The girl proclaims before she spits on the table. "A beta at that." Arthur adds. A small smile spreads on my face. I couldn't help it - my daughter took out one of the enemy, I was proud of that. There maybe hope for her yet. I never planned on introducing her to this life but I made sure she learnt some defensive moves in case this life found her. Turns out, it has. If only I can convince her about how dangerous they truly are and get her away from them. "We are arranging a deal - the fall of White Crescent in exchange for Abby's safe return." "Reluctantly agreeing." The wolf mutters. "That is my daughter, mutt. Don't think I won't put you in the ground. No matter how valuable you may be, you are still one of them at the end of it." She growls at me. "I would like to see you try." "Easy, you two. Easy." Arthur holds up his hands in between our stare down. "Anyway." Chester tried to take out some of the tension. "Our informant here will give us Intel about movements, numbers, changes, etcetera. When we find a weak spot or vulnerable moment, we strike." His eyes turn towards me. "Once we strike and eliminate the ranked members, the pack will crumble, making it easier to take out the rest and get Abby out of there." "What about the McGraw sisters? They had marks on them when I saw them earlier." They knew that the younger one, Maeve, worked at the pub my wife runs so they presumed I had seen her there. I was not about to tell them that there was wolves and witches at my house - that was my own sanctuary and, if they knew, it would become like a military camp. "They, too, are also mated to wolves in the pack." Arthur tosses two reports towards me for me to look through. "Adelaide is mated to the Head trainer of the pack whereas Maeve is to the new head chef." The she wolf informs me. "I can read." I hold up the reports in my hand towards her. "Anyway, let's reconvene when we have more information, shall we?" Arthur calls to the group, clearly done with all the tension in the room. He was definitely the softer one out of the two brothers. "Fine!" I stand from my seat and walk towards the door, not before making a detour towards their new wolf friend. "Listen hear filth, if you even think about harming a single hair on my girl's head then I will show you true pain - nothing like this scar you have got." And I point at the mark. She stares at me for a few moments before finally speaking. "Does your daughter know what you do for a living?" I was stunned but managed to compose myself. Not quick enough sadly. "I'll bring the popcorn." She smirks at me before getting up from the chair, shoulder charging me out of the way as she leaves the room. I sigh and exit not long later. I hate wolves.
