3 - Colt POV

1380 Words
If you take out lunch, this day has been the best day of my entire life, closely followed by all of the moments I have had with Abby. Ash, we are having a pup. Our first pup. Yes, Colt. This is truly a great moment in our life and I can't wait to meet them. What do you reckon they will be? Boy or girl? I don't know, but I hope they get Abby's features. Wouldn't want them inheriting your ugly mug. Supportive as ever Ash. You know I only tease you... right? Yes, and you need to read human emotions better - know when they are truly hurt. "Are you mindlinking or speaking to Ash?" Abby's voice brings me back to reality as we drive back towards the packhouse. Both of them were glancing towards me, as if they were waiting for my answer. "Sorry, was speaking to Ash. Did you guys say something?" "I had apologised to you both about how my father behaved at lunch." Her knuckles tighten round the steering wheel as she relives the moment in her head. The only dampener on this otherwise perfect day. "You should not be the one apologising, Abby." "That's what I said." Jason affirms from his seat, staring out of the window in deep thought. "Has he behaved like that before towards guests?" "Yes, he hates strangers, especially ones that he hasn't invited himself to the house." Sounds like a control freak. "But he has never been that bad." Abby sighs. "Mught be due to jet lag or something." "You don't have to defend him, Abby. He should not have behaved like that towards us, jet lagged or not." I reach my hand across and intertwined our fingers before placing them on her stomach. I could sense our little pup which brought a huge smile to her face. Abby, on the other hand, had sadness written across her face. "It was stuff like that is why I'm worried about this." She glances down at her stomach before fixing her eyes back on the road. "How is he going to react when I tell him I'm pregnant?" "No matter what, we will handle it together." I bring her hand to my lips, planting a tender kiss on it before resting it back on her stomach. She smiles at me gratefully. "Thank you." "Cannot believe he compared me to a teapot." Jason grumbles in the back. "If only he knew how many people I have taken out, including the ones I took out defending his own daughter." "Well... his daughter really appreciates you for doing all of that, even if you do, apparently, look like a teapot." Abby smirks at Jason in the rear view mirror, earning her a kick in the back of her chair. "Hey! This car only just got repaired!" "Anyway, even though the lunch did not go as well as I wanted, I can still tick off meeting the parents from the list." I try and ease the atmosphere, make a joke about it, but I could tell Abby was not happy about it. "One thing at a time." Abby breathes out. "That is what I am going to focus on - going to tell my parents about the pregnancy, will probably then have to move out." "Why will you have to move out?" Jason asks. "Well I would want me and Colt to be together to raise the baby and, as you saw, I doubt dad will want Colt in the house." She looks at Jason again, giving him a look to say did you actually ask that? "Noted." Smart man. "You are more than welcome to move into the packhouse." I give her stomach a rub, this already feeling natural to me. "And it will probably be a new permanent packhouse by the time this little one arrives." "Are we going to be moving to Newstead Abbey?" Jason leans forward to gage my response. I turn to Abby with hesitation. It had been less than two days since we were last there... and it was not a pleasant time. Understatement. "I hated the people there, not the place." She dismissively waves her hand at us as we near the packhouse. "If it's a good place and has all the annemeties needed for a pack then go for it." "Sounding like a Luna there, Abby." I smirk at her as we park up outside the house. "Oh yeah, are we having a Luna ceremony?" Jason leans in-between us, turning his head from me to Abby and back. Abby looks like she was about to hurt him for adding another thing to the list she was already concocting in her head of things to do. "How about we focus on Abby's parents and our new pup first!? Once we have settled that and the pack house, then we will talk about the Luna ceremony." Abby leans over and plants a tender kiss on my lips. "This is why I love you. Always organising the chaos I create in my head." "I only do it cos I love you too." And I pull her back in for another kiss. "And I think this is my cue to leave the car." Jason speaks up to remind us that he is in the car. "We should all get out. We still have a lot of the fallout from Friday to deal with." I turn to them both, although I would rather spend my day with Abby in my arms. We can still do that. You are the Alpha! Order Austin to look after them - he is your Beta. I'm sure he will appreciate you saying that. "Oh, and please do not mention it to anyone in the pack yet." Abby turns to us before we have a chance to open our doors. "Abby, we have to announce the pregnancy to the pack. Our pup will be the future Alpha." I softly look at her. I know she was struggling to process it herself but wolves were pack animals. Any news, good or bad, was shared with everyone; hardly any secrets were held. "You can make an official announcement, just... give me until this evening, please? Just so I can have this afternoon to get myself settled about it." Her eyes held so much sincerity in them, how could I deny her. "Anything you want, my love." We smile at each other before we exit the car and head towards the dining hall. "CONGRATULATIONS!" We didn't even make it to the courtyard before the entire pack stood before us, gleeful smiles spread across their faces as they whooped and hollered. Our friends stood awkwardly at the front of the group - some stood annoyed whilst others looked sheepishly. It was only when Faye and Tina held out a cake before us that realisation kicked in. The cake inscription - Congrats on the Baby! "Who told?" Abby looked at the group. They all turned towards Maeve would was looking anywhere but at us. If looks could kill, Abby would have buried Maeve six feet under. "She told Faye who told Tina and then it spread like wildfire before we could do anything." Dan explained whilst Maeve stared daggers at the back of his head. "I was just excited to be an Auntie." She protests. "We will handle this later, but first." I turn to the crowd. "Thank you all. It feels us with great joy to be having this pup together and we cannot wait to bring them into our family." The crowd claps whilst the cooks begin handing out cake and cupcakes to the crowd. "Please continue with your days. And thank you again - we will hold an official celebration later on." The crowd begins to disperse as I drag Abby towards the building. "Austin, Naomi, Dan and Siobhan - You lot are in charge. I am going to take Abby for some peace and quiet." I mindlink the others. The pack could wait, right now my mate needed some attention. Guess you got your wish after all, Ash. You should just listen to me first in the future. I sigh to myself. This day... Best day of my life - certainly wanted to test that statement.
