28 - Abby POV

"Welcome, Abby and Colt." Siobhan says as she signs excitedly at us as we walk into the pack hospital.

Well, I say pack hospital, most of it had been packed away for the move, so there were only emergency supplies and an ultrasound machine out on display.

"Siobhan? Are you doing my first scan?"

"Yes, Doctor Moss allowed me to do it."

"Allowed you? You begged him, then almost threw a fit when he initially said no." Dan comments as he walks past her, with Imogen, towards myself and Colt, giving us a hug each in the process. "Congrats again, guys."

"Soon, little Imogen will have a little playmate that's more her age compared to the twins." Colt pinches her cheek, making her giggle in delight. The sight melted my heart as I watched in interaction - he was going to be a great dad.

"We want new friend too!" We turn our heads to the door to see Teagan and Tyson running towards us with Naomi and Austin in tow. I crouched down so I could give them a big hug, being careful not to fall back as they barrel into me.

"You can be their friend too. You just have to be gentle with them until they get bigger, like how you are with Imogen."

"Imogen no friend! I love her!" Tyson proclaims as he walks over to Dan, holding his arms up towards... his love I guess.

Dan didn't seem to pleased with that statement as he slightly pulls her away from the toddler. "You can't date her yet Tyson. Or ever for that matter." He mutters the last part under his breath, causing the rest of us to sputter with laughter.

"She will have to date someone at some point, so why not my son?" Naomi folds her arms over and stares at Dan.

Colt takes hold of my shoulders and starts pushing me towards the examination room with Siobhan in tow. "We will leave you lot to sort out this little situation whilst we get a glimpse of our pup."

We could hear the two still bickering as Siobhan shuts the door on them. "Poor Austin. Should we really leave him out there with the two of them?" I ask the others.

"He's a good mediator - he will make sure it doesn't get out of hand." Colt pats the bed as he perches himself on the edge of it. Siobhan sets about getting the machine ready whilst I lay myself down, rolling up my shirt and lowering my trousers so she has full access to my stomach.

I turn towards Colt - a bead of sweat starts to form on his forehead. "You nervous?"

"What! No..." He defended himself before looking back at me. "OK, a little."

I take a hold of his hand and bring it to my lips, giving it a delicate kiss on his knuckles. "Hey, we are in this together. You and me against the world, right?"

A soft smile graces his face as he returns the favour by kissing my clasped hand. "Right."

"OK Abby, I'm all set. Just going to apply some gel on your stomach, so this will be a bit cold." When she said a bit cold, she meant freezing. Colt was trying to contain a laughter as he saw my reaction to it being applied. "I know I am new to this whole pregnancy thing, but I am pretty sure this is the easy part." He whispers in my ear, earning him a swat of my hand in response.

Siobhan places the wand on my stomach and starts moving it around. I could feel my heart beat speed up, almost felt like it wanted to burst through in anticipation.

"Alright guys, here is baby Ash." The world froze around me. A small shape appeared on the screen. It didn't have too much detail, it looked like a peanut in shape, but the second I laid eyes in them, the tears started to flow freely from my face.

Colt pulls me in towards him and pressed our cheeks together since we were both locked onto the screen ahead of us. I could feel his own tears running down his face. "Wow.. Abby, we have a baby."

"I know..."

"I'll print off the scan pictures for you and give you guys a minute. I'll come back soon to run some more tests." Siobhan waves at us as she exits the room.

Colt and I rest our heads against each other, just staring peacefully at the little image of our baby on the screen.

"Ash says his namesake looks strong." I let out a little chuckle. "You are right, Ash, and I'm glad we will name them after you."

"May have to think of other people to name any future pups after if this is our thing."

"Can we just focus on this one first, please?" We didn't even have the first one out, and Colt was already thinking about having a litter.

"OK, I will be content with our little family." I pause at his last comment. Whilst we had our friends and the pack as an extended family, Colt lost his parents, and my dad doesn't want baby Ash to exist.

"Abby, what's wrong? I can feel your mood shift." Colt turns my head gently so we are looking at each other in the eye.

"Just... you lost your parents and my dad wants me to get an abortion." I answer truthfully. "I'm just... worried. What world are we going to bring them into?"

He cups my cheeks, his eyes filled with tenderness as he spoke softly to me. "One filled with love and happiness."

"That's not the world we currently have." He seemed stunned by my response, so I quickly recover. "I love you and our world is filled with happiness. It's the one outside these walls that I am worried about. What if someone tried to hurt us by going after our child?"

"They will never get that chance." He steeled himself. "I swear to you, and our unborn pup, that I will do everything in my power to keep you both safe; even if that means at the cost of my own life."

I could see it in his eyes - he meant every word. I cup his cheeks and plant a loving kiss on his lips. "I hope it never gets to that point."

"Myself and the others are currently coming up with a plan to take out the Hunters. I'll make sure they are no longer a threat before baby Ash is born." And he kisses me in response.

Whether it was all the emotions in the air, or just a hit of hormones, but I wanted our kisses to continue. I push Colt down onto the bed and roll myself on top, straddling his lap as I do.

"Abby, what are you doing?"

"Kissing my mate. Kissing the father of my child. Kissing the love of my life. Do I need to say it in any more ways?"

"Nope." And he pulls me flush against his chest, wrapping his arms around me as our mouths fight for dominance. Colt wins as he moves one hand down to my bum cheeks and gives it a firm squeeze. The action causing me to gasp which allows him the opportunity to slide his tongue into my mouth.

I let out a moan as I get a taste of him. My hands roaming his arms and his chest as I could feel myself getting hotter by the second.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

That halted the moment.

"If you guys are decent, Siobhan wants to finish off the tests before Naomi and Dan start bickering again." Austin calls out from behind the door as we pull away reluctantly.

"Remind me to do that the next time him and Naomi try to sneak off from the twins." We both laugh as we readjust ourselves before letting Siobhan back in to carry on the tests. I smile at my stomach, resting my hands over the top as the appointment continues.

I promise, my little Ash, that you will grow up in a safe world where you are loved beyond measure.
