30 - Abby POV

1340 Words
"And... plop!" Nicole comments as she slowly lowers me to the ground for what must be the umpteenth time. They were taking it lightly. By that, they meant they were going to move in slow motion every time they would make contact with me or when they were throwing me about so that I would not injure myself. They said this at the start. I thought I had the upper hand. Now, I am just wondering how I am losing so badly. "Are the sound effects necessary?" They were just adding insult to injury as I lay on the ground, annoyed with myself for not even managing to get a single shot off on them. "Think you are a little rusty." Nicole holds out her hand as she helps me get to my feet. I did try earlier to use this to counterattack both of them. Take a guess as to how that turned out. Jason, who was propped up against the wall watching the bout, makes his way over to the two of us. "It has been around two weeks since the fight with Blood Moon and a touch longer for the last defence session. Are you feeling OK?" "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" "Because you shouldn't be this out of shape." Ow. Way to hurt my pride even further, Jason. "Sorry. Guess everything is catching up to me." They stare at me as their heads tilt to the side. "Well, everyone now knows about the baby, so now me and Colt just have to sort out all the baby stuff whilst making sure the baby is healthy and that my body can cope with a hybrid growing inside of me. Not to mention the fact that my dad wants me to have an abortion and we have only just sent Gabe off to have therapy which may or may not work." The two of them looked stunned as I reeled off everything. And yet, despite how compact I made the statement, the weight of it beared down on me. "Think my dad is the one I am most shocked about; Gabe in a close second. But, to find out you are to be a grandfather and then to just.. want them gone. Why wasn't he happy? Who would want to kill someone? Especially an innocent baby." I look to them for reassurance - Jason turns his head to avoid eye contact, rubbing the back of his neck as he stares down at the ground. Meanwhile, Nicole just looks blank at me - no emotions on her face as she shrugs. "The baby part I don't get for your dad, but for killing... look at the last month. Our world is kill or be killed right now; even you have fallen into that." "Not intentionally." I wish for the life of my I could take back Zack's death, but I couldn't, and I hate how I eclipsed it that day, and still do to an extent, because finding out about the supernatural world I see as the biggest moment of that day. But, Nicole did have a point. That moment was kill or be killed, especially looking back on it knowing what Xavier had planned for me. If I had been captured, that would have been my end. I was about to respond when I catch sight of someone peeping at us from around the corner. "Willow?" The shape darts away the moment I speak, so I give chase. "Hey! Come back here." I round the corner to see her heading into the wooded area so I give chase - footsteps bearing down behind me indicate that Jason and Nicole are also hot on her tail. It wasn't until we reached the woods that Nicole decided to shift into her wolf and cut Willow off. Now, she was encircled between me, Jason and Nicole. "Light exercise. Remember that, Abby." Jason whisper shouts to me as we catch our breaths. I ignore him and turn my focus to Willow. "Why were you spying on us?" "I wasn't." "Bullsh*t and you know it." My retort makes her take a step back which was surprising considering our other encounters. "People don't poke their heads around the corner to watch people if they are not spying." "I was not spying." "Then what were you doing?" Jason spun it round back to her. He positioned himself so that I could see but was partly shielded by his form. He didn't trust her still. That could be said about everyone in the pack. "I was seeing... if the coast was clear." She answers. If we weren't confused before, we sure were now. "Who were you waiting to leave?" "All of you." "Why?" "Because I don't want to be near you." She spits at me, getting a snarl from Nicole in response. "In case you lot have forgotten, Abby, you are the bane of my life. Thanks to you, you took Colt away from me and made me an outcast; not to mention the scars that dagger of yours gave me." She gestures to her face to make the point. "Thanks to you, I have no one - no family, no friends and no one who loves me." I take a deep breath before I answer. "Willow, do you really believe that deep down? Or, are you being spiteful?" "Don't try and use that therapy technique on me. I get enough of that from the purple witch." She looks at me with annoyance as she tries to look for anyway she could get out of this. "None of this was my fault. I just fell into your world and then do my best to survive in it. Along the way, yes, I fell in love." She goes to let out a growl but one look from Jason quietens her instantly. "I'm sorry we fell for the same man. I'm sorry we had to fight over him. And, I'm sorry I gave you those scars." I slowly make my way towards Willow, lightly pushing Jason forward with me. My training session today has shown that I am out of practice, so I wasn't taking any chances. "Can you find it in our heart to forgive me and we move past this?" I slowly extend my hand out towards her when I get close enough. She looks down at my hand and then back at me. "Pfft! No!" She smacks my hand away and goes to walk away but is shoved to the ground by Jason. "Ow! What the hell, Jason!" "Do not disrespect your Luna like that." "She is not the Luna." "Not officially, but she is to be treated as such, especially as she is pregnant with the future leader of our pack." I rest my hand on Jason's shoulder to silence him as I step to his side. "It's OK." I turn my attention to Willow, who had propped herself up onto her elbows. "I'm tired of having problem after problem. So, I forgive you, Willow, for everything. I hope one day that I will earn yours." "Oh yeah, and how do you plan on doing that?" She smirks. "With more therapy session apparently." We all turn our heads to see Adelaide resting up against a tree. "Oh great, you're here." Willow sighs in frustration as she lays back down on the floor, covering her face with her hands in annoyance. "You are just lucky that my family dinner is tomorrow." Adelaide walks over to the group and gives me a hug. "You head back and take it easy. I'll take it from here." So, myself, Jason and Nicole make our way back to the packhouse. "I sure wouldn't want to be Willow right now." Jason remarks as he keeps glancing back at the trees. "Adelaide having to deal with Willow in her free time. Think good luck Adelaide is more appropriate." We arrive back at the training square just as Colt comes out. "You taking it lightly?" How fragile does everyone think I am?
