Cressa was surprised to find the leather cuffs binding her to the bed had been undone when she woke up. She could barely make out the top of the head and white starched cap of the nurse who stood at the foot of the bed, marking on the clipboard, unaware she’d come to. “Hey.” The woman elf jumped slightly. She peered around the footboard at her. “Oh! Goodness. You frightened me.” “Sorry.” “Don’t be. Comes with the territory. How do you feel? Care to eat anything?” Cressa raised her freed arms. “Thanks for freeing me.” “Don’t thank me. Thank Dr. Hill. He ordered them removed, since you hadn’t had any further episodes.” The nurse had pulled the privacy curtain around to where it blocked her view of the chair in the corner, but Cressa didn’t need to see it to know Myles was gone.
