“When was the last time you ate?” Cressa looked over at the detective. They weren’t too far from the main police station. “I don’t remember,” she honestly answered. “That’s what I thought. I’ll have an officer go get you something. What would you like? My treat.” She smiled. “How about some of Nellie’s chicken and dumplings?” Horner nodded. “That’s right. Today’s Tuesday. Think I’ll have him pick up two orders.” He pulled into a parking area directly behind the police station and led her inside via a rear door. Motioning to an officer sitting behind a desk, he requested the guy make a run to Nellie’s for the food. Cressa watched him reach for his wallet and pull out a fiver to pay for them.
