Tossing in my back for the eighth time, I tried to close my eyes tightly again but sleep still refused to come.
No matter how many times I turned over or buried my face deeper into the pillow, my eyes simply wouldn’t stay closed.
The room was quiet.
Too quiet that sleeping almost became a task of its own.
Beside me, Chloe slept peacefully, hugging her stuffed rabbit against her tiny chest while soft breaths escaped her parted lips.
I smiled faintly.
At least one of us had found peace tonight.
I couldn’t sleep alone in that huge room,so an hour in, I bailed and waltzed to Chloe’s bed thinking it would help but it didn’t.
It was so unlike Xylon to be out late.
