AUDREY’S POV
“Yes, Trevor, I understand.” I pressed the phone closer to my ear, trying my best to hear him over the chaos happening in the bedroom.
“Tomorrow’s meeting will mostly be about the quarterly reports, so make sure you bring the revised—”
“Mommy! Look!”
I closed my eyes.
Not again.
A small blur of pink pajamas jumped across the couch.
“Chloe…”
“Look how high I can jump!” A pillow flew across the room.
I quickly turned away from her and lowered my voice.
“I’m sorry, Trevor. Give me one second.”
“Is everything okay?”
“Yes. Everything is fine.”
It was not fine.
It was a five year old hurricane running around the room five minutes before bedtime.
I tried covering one ear with my hand, but Chloe’s excited screams still managed to break through.
