AUDREY’S POV
“CHLOE!”
The scream ripped from my throat before I even realized I was running as the sedan’s brakes shrieked harshly against the road creating a loud crashing sound echoing through the shopping plaza as people gasped and scattered.
Time in my world seemed to slow down as I watched my daughter’s tiny body stumble onto the road before falling onto the rough pavement.
“Mommy…”
Her frightened little voice shattered something inside me as I closed the remaining space between us and dropped to my knees beside her so hard that they scraped against the concrete.
“Chloe! Baby!” I cried out breathlessly.
My trembling hands searched frantically over her little body.
Her knees were scraped raw with as thin line of blood trickled down one elbow.
Tears streamed down her cheeks
