CHAPTER THREE HONIE LOIE

The family of Pa musa was knowing for friend of the bird that gives the people the mandate to call his family or children anywhere they saw them as Honie Loie that means “the child of a bird which means chick also. The children do not like that name at first but people insisted calling them that name even when they told them that, they still persisted calling him that name most especially those who are aware of their father mystery in talking to birds.

At first, they think it was a joke they were reporting the people to town chief because it seems like it has become their surname instead of the lebbie. That is how Lebbie the family surname was missing from the mouth of people and that is how the lebbie begins to get a new surname from the people although it was not accepted by them and people never stopped calling them. Musa and the rest of his sisters have involved into a lot of fight because of that name. The town chief Joe senesie has handle several cases of the lebbie family. It has become as a mockery to the family and it seems like they are not ready to accept that name at all, neither people are ready to stop.

One day there was a serious fight in the village among the lebbie family and the mockers. The sisters of musa were not ready to take any mess so they supported Musa heavily into a serious battle. It was like a hungry lion ready to tear down it prey. They village become confusing and noisy everywhere.it was the first time to see this family involve into heavy quarrel with people that shake the whole village Pa musa was not knowing for this neither from any member of his family. They are cool and gentle in handling things but they said they must not take this any longer. Pa musa and mama lombeh give a report to the chief with sum amount of 50cent for the chief to handle their issue.

Pa Joe was one of the wisest and bravest chiefs in the village of mongerewo and beyond. He calls out his kins men to look into the case as it has become the talk of the town. He immediately calls on the lebbie family to handle the case but musa was the wildest like a tiger at first, he was not willing to explain to the chief because he said it is too much on them. The chief said how can we amend this musa! If you don’t talk to us or allow us look into it carefully, give us the chance please the chief said to musa. Musa sisters saw the reason they need to calm down for pa Joe to handle the case if not it would not be properly settled at the end of the day. Since their parent had brought the matter to corporate for their parent money not to go in vain. Musa calm down said marie, ourselves we would not take it any longer except we see the tail of this matter. The chief asked are you now ready for us to handle this matter the family said yes alright said the chief. He calls on his messenger Pa Abu arises and go to the victims involve in this issue and bring them immediately. Tell them that the Lebbie family has reported them to me with sum amount of scent. The need to bring along the salmon money before we sit at the matter yes sir! It was the happiest time of the chief and the money would not be given back to them no matter who justice is been given to. They reported immediately with the salmon money and the chief said you are here because there is an issue between you and the Lebbie family. They said what issue the chief smile and courageous explained to them that you all that are sitting have been calling the Lebbie family a name that first of all is a crime that are you to compensate them with some amount of money if we found out that it is true. They are not in favor of a name that you use to call them and that is not their real name on the day they were brought in these world in that case we are here to kindly know if you are really doing that to this family. They said they have not done it is a numerous accusation on them. The chief said if we found out that you are responsible for that or you really provoke this people to anger what would we do with you. They said anything sir we are ready to facing the consequences ok said the chief. Pa Joe asked Pa Musa and his family do you have a witness in this matter yes sir and answer Pa musa. Pa Joe asked the other people do you have a witness that you don’t say this word or call them Honie Loie. The chief said ‘according to the white man provocation is next to madness by this time everyone was very serious looking into this matter keenly by the chief. Other people in the village were around to listen to this particular matter. The chief asked them to call the name of their witnesses each of them have to be call as demanded by the chief.

The Lebbie family has Abie as their witness Pa Joe order the messenger to call upon Abie immediately. Then he turns to the mockers who are your witness they said Alie, Pa Joe asked who is Alie? Alie was a man that normally comes into the town to do a business but he can’t properly understand their native language. Pa Joe said is Alie around the chief demand again the messenger to call Alie the business man. When they arrived, the chief explains everything to them and said you are here because we have and issue to amend here. You are the key role player for this issue to solve finally, he explains everything to them and said you are going to talk between you and your God and swear to your business and family that you would say nothing else but what really happen the chief asked them to talk exactly what they saw. I Alie would saying nothing but the truth because I am standing on top of my grave when I die, I alone would be in that grave, I heard when I was passing going to my customers Honie_Loie _Gaa but I don’t know what actually that mean or who they were calling or referring to. The chief said Alie thank you so much for your sincere words. They wanted to argue and defend the issue that they were talking of birds that flew in the air chief said as long you saw them in their midst and said that means you were calling them before. I have been gathering report he said I am going to fine you for measuring that name even as you said repeatedly the chief fines them with a huge amount of money.

After the chief have settled everything at first, they were not happy for the huge amount of money that came from their hand. Enmity was created among them in a way that they have no business with one another. Each of them has to be in their little corner watching to trigger any confusion that they would be at defense against them but it would be easy to trapped them. They are always busy in carrying out their farming activities. Pa Musa has only one best friend that is the reason he was not worry at this particular moment. He said to his family when the enemy want to handle you, he finds loop holes to do that. So please be careful my children and not to fall into the trapped of anyone.

Immediately the chief settle the issue there was no more provocation unto their hearing they know the warning of the chief and consequences if anyone defile it. Everyone was aware of what chief has said concerning the name, that it is not their first name neither their second name even though the hold a grudge against them but they little bit scared this term around because a clear exampled have been set to some people around the town with a little carefulness. It has become very difficult for a person to bring that name in a joke way neither even in their dream line. Now there is no more head ache of warning people about that “marie” said there is an old saying that my grandfather told us he said kill a dog before dog to show the dog evidence of death. He said if you want to be quiet about everything, they would suppress you. She continues to say people love to laugh at a mad person but they never want to give birth to a mad child. You have to be careful not to be the first to offend people but if someone offend you or any of your relatives, I will handle that person. As they were moving along with their discussion Musa said to marie let us forget that drama I know that no one would ever try it again because it would be hurt for that individual let move on now. Hawa ...So this people were having the thought they would won us in this matter. Tenneh hmm they were doing a try, Musa the younger what really hurt me is when the turn everything in a laughing stuff I would not have break out of anger but it seems like they were getting advantage on us I will never be alive to see such people do that to my family.

Pa musa. some people do not really understand our live that why if they want to know not by mocking let them come and enquire gently, believing me I appreciate that better than any other way. You see when people don’t want to have peace in their life, they would tempt to challenge my life and family. I alone can defeat one hundred men not talking about my army that I have they all burst in to laugh and started provoking themselves how seriously the issue was to them, they even said no one was ready to listen. Life is just like a drama we don’t have to over react at the ending of the day we remain regretting everything of our entire life. Sometimes if you follow people, you would surely over react because there are some who try to tease you woefully and you if you try to handle them, they would always see your own side. The wish that if the chief would not have technically handle the issue, they would have brought an herbalist, that it would have end the doubt and the truth would be reveal to the eyes.
