DESPITE ALEX’S CONTINUED dubiousness, he eventually agrees to travel back to Indiana to visit both his family and his alma mater. Paul internally thanks Margaret for that idea. He’s positive Alex never would have done this if he hadn’t seen a purpose to it outside himself. After three weeks of phone calls, wrangling, and planning — and one very bumpy flight out of LAX — Paul, Alex, and Claudia land at the Indianapolis Airport.
Alex adjusts Claudia on his hip when they walk off the jetway and into the terminal.
“Huh,” he says, looking around. “So this is what it looks like.”
