ASIDE FROM THE WELCOME home barbecue, Gemma hasn’t heard from Alex since he got back to L.A. She doesn’t lose too much sleep over that fact; she knows Alex’s habits too well by now. Expecting him to take initiative in making contact is an exercise in futility. Being upset at him is, at this point, a waste of energy.
So Gemma’s not annoyed that Alex, her former roommate and one-time best friend, hasn’t reached out to her. She’s just extraordinarily aware of the facts. That doesn’t stop her, however, from texting him on the way to her car between meetings.
