My heart warmed at the sight of Valerie curled up on the bed, already fast asleep. The soft rise and fall of her chest was almost like a sedative to me. It reminded me of my much needed rest. But I couldn't, I've got a lot of things to handle.
Steve breezed into the room, making his presence known, and stood beside me, also watching her.
"Let's leave her to rest, there's something you should know." The urgency in Steve's voice was clear.
I walked to Val's side, leaning down to drop a gentle kiss on her forehead.
"Oh quit the PDA, lover boy," Steve teased, pulling me out of the room. The door clicked shut gently behind us, leaving Valerie in her peaceful slumber.
She really needed that sleep. When she wakes up she'll explain every single thing.
