Maeve looked up at her new school, she felt her mother squeeze her hand,so she gave her a little smile. Every bit of the school reeked of money. If it had been under different circumstances, she would have actually enjoyed going here.
The taxi slowly made its way to the parking lot where rows and rows of expensive cars assailed her eyes. She knew what her mom was thinking, they had brought a taxi to the most expensive school in the whole of Country Z. ' Mom,I wouldn't have it any other way. You already used up your savings, getting those expensive as f**k dresses for me. I will be fine,I'm Maeve Sanders after all.'
They finally found a parking space after a long time and to make it worse,it was at the end of the parking lot,so they had to walk back while carrying boxes and other stuff. Of course, people stared at them, everyone was resuming today after all. There were less parents and more butlers. While still feeling proud of having her mother, she heard a loud thud behind her. She looked back and saw her mother and another girl on the floor with her things scattered about. A butler rushed to get the girl up while she went to her mother. She was checking to see if there was any wound when she heard a voice behind her,' Old hag,are you blind?'
Maeve clenched her teeth and forced herself to ignore her. She had to maintain her good girl image in front of her mother. ' We're so sorry,' she forced herself to say. Quickly clearing her things, she fled with her mother.
She did want attention but it was too soon to get it and she didn't want her mother to see another side of her that she had buried for a while. She mentally added to girl to her " people I'd like to destroy" list. There were other people she planned to destroy, every single name she had written in that diary, she would hunt them down. On the top of that list was the person sitting across her right now, Miss Baker, the principal.
The woman forced a smile when she noticed the piercing gaze, she pushed her glasses up and turned her condescending gaze to her mother. " Ma'am,we are done with the procedures. You would have to say your goodbyes now. You will get to see her during founder's day." Caroline sighed, the moment she had dreaded had come. The duo left the office and hugged one another when they got outside, with tears in her eyes. " I'll be fine ma. I love you and I'll miss you". Caroline sighed and placed a kiss on her forehead. She pushed something in her hand and covered it." My world, I......"
" I'd hate to break this lovey-dovey moment. That's a lie,I'm breaking it. I've been assigned to show you around the school. So, you've got one minute,I am a busy woman". Maeve forced a smile and hugged her mother once more."Be safe". She waited till her mother was out of sight before turning to the girl before her. She gauged her with her eyes, with glasses and two pigtails, she looked every bit like a model student."Are you always so angry with life?" The girl ignored her and started walking. Maeve had no choice but to follow her. They spent almost thirty minutes walking about, with the girl explaining things to her. SkyView Academy was big ,super huge and one could easily get lost. Their sport facilities were top notch . They had a cinema on campus, which she found unnecessary but then again it was fair because they were not allowed to leave school except during emergencies or holidays. Every single painting they come across told one story or the other. The one that caught her eye the most was the one of a girl, her back was turned on the world but from how her back looked, you could see that she was hopeful, happy and peaceful. How could a painting say so much?
"That one is my favorite too. A student that used to go here painted it. She was such a fine talent, Catelyn". Maeve gasped. She suddenly felt heavy and stared at the painting like she wanted to steal it. She stretched her hand to feel it but was stopped."You can look but don't touch.Moving on,there is the music room. They walked towards in and entered to take a brief look. Maeve stared wide-eyed as her dream was right before her,the piano she had always wanted to buy was sitting right there and she was just some feet away from it."Can I play something?". Laurie wanted to refuse but the girl was already sitting. She sighed and stretched her delicate fingers towards the piano. She toyed with it for a while before she started playing. Laurie had never heard such a sweet tune. She felt warm all over as she watched the girl bathed in the warmth of the song,so focused on what she was playing. She did not even realize when the song ended. She just kept staring at her.
When Maeve turned back, she saw that the had company. She blushed and shyly walked up to them."I wondered who the ogre was that was making my beauty cry,so it was you. New kid, that was awful." Maeve narrowed her eyes but didn't say anything, she however noticed Laurie blushing. With raised brows, she assessed the boy that could make Iron Lady blush. He looked very normal to her. Brown hair, freckles, brown eyes and thin lips. From his muscles, she could tell her was the sports type,Golden boy. She forced an apologetic look and grabbed Laurie,"we'll be on our way". She pulled Laurie who kept looking back at him away. The boy watched them go with disdain. He frowned and looked back at the piano. He had heard that tune before,he just couldn't remember where.
The rest of the tour went well and finally, she was standing before her dorm door. She had been wondering where all her stuff was, that very weird Butler had whisked them away. She opened the door and there her stuff were,in the center of the room. Three people stared at her as she walked in. One snorted, the other just stared and walked away, while the last one smiled and walked up to her. "Hi,roomie. I'm Zoe,that is Fiona and that's CJ." She nodded and beamed,"I'm Maeve."
"Welcome to hell,Maeve." Fiona said.
