Eve sat on the bank of one of the small pockets of water that dotted Bull Creek, dragging the tip of her knife in the sand as she absently made swirling, chaotic designs. The designs fit her mood perfectly. It had been a miserable night at the bonfire last night. As much as Eve tried, she had not managed to shake the image of the small ceramic rocking horse bank sitting on her porch when she got back from her walk with Alanna. Her body still shook every time she thought of it. It had been her secret stash of cash when she lived with Kyle, the place where she hid money in the hopes that she would escape one day. At least, it had until he found it and took it from her, spitting how she would never leave him. That she belonged to him and how ungrateful she was for even thinking of walking
