Chapter 2: The Secluded Cabin

414 Words
The heat radiating from Logan’s body was the only thing keeping Seraphina grounded as he carried her through the blizzard. He moved with impossible speed and silence, bypassing his own sentries until they reached a small, black-timber cabin hidden deep within a craggy ravine. He kicked the heavy oak door open and stepped inside, immediately shielding her from the biting wind. The cabin was dark, smelling of cedar, leather, and Logan's intoxicating, masculine scent. He lowered her gently onto a plush leather sofa in front of a stone fireplace. Without a word, he knelt before the hearth. Within seconds, a roaring fire came to life, casting deep amber shadows across his broad, bare shoulders and the sharp lines of his face.Seraphina watched him, her heart pounding against her ribs. Her skin still tingled where he had touched her in the woods. The raw, magnetic pull between them was dizzying, making her throat dry and her pulse race.Logan turned around, his amber eyes glowing in the firelight. He walked over to her, his movements predatory yet deliberately slow. He knelt right in front of her, his massive frame towering over her even while seated."You're freezing," he murmured, his voice a low, gravelly vibration that sent a wave of heat straight to her core.He reached out, his large, warm hands gently gripping her ankles. Seraphina gasped at the sudden, intense heat of his touch. Slowly, deliberately, he slid her wet, leather boots off, his fingers trailing lightly up the sensitive skin of her calves. Every point of contact felt like a brand, a searing current of desire that made her breath hitch.Logan’s gaze drifted up, locking onto her parted lips. The scent of her arousal, sweet and wild, filled the small cabin, driving his inner wolf to the brink of madness. He wanted to pin her to the sofa, to taste her, to claim her completely."Who are you, Seraphina?" he whispered, leaning in closer. His hot breath brushed against her cheek, making her shiver with a want she didn't fully understand."Someone who shouldn't be here," she breathed, her hands coming up to rest against his bare, muscular chest. The contrast between his burning, solid skin and her icy hands made them both shudder with raw, undeniable tension.Logan closed his eyes for a brief second, leaning into her touch, his large hand coming up to cup her jaw, his thumb tracing her lower lip. The physical gravity between them was a trap, and neither of them wanted to escape.
