“I’ve already told you, there’s nothing on my end. No one here knows anything about her,” Vance muttered into his phone, trying to maintain patience. “I swear, if I find out anything, I’ll let you know.”
Taya’s voice on the other end was sharp with frustration. “That’s what you all keep saying. I’m getting sick of it, Vance. She’s pregnant. Every second that passes, Tessa’s chance at becoming Luna slips away!”
Vance rubbed his temples, already exhausted. How long was he going to keep playing this game? He had only agreed to help Taya because of his own greed—and now, he was stuck in a tangled mess he couldn’t escape from.
