Nicholas was in his study, busy taking care of some files that needed his attention when he got a call from Catherine. He stared at it in confusion, he wasn't expecting the call at that moment as it was late in the night.
Before the call would end, he picked it and called out her name. There was a small pause at the other end before she finally said something.
"Nicholas." She called. Her voice sounded so low like she had been crying. He quickly switched it to a video call and he was finally able to see her face.
Her face wad so pale like she had seen a ghost. Her eyes were red and swollen like she had been crying. She looked so pitiful that Nicholas wished he ould fly back to Washington DC and be with her at that moment.
"Catherine.. what's wrong?" He asked in concern.
