CHAPTER 13 (Alarmed) I groaned and I squinted my eyes when a surge of light entered my vision. Slowly, my eyes adjusted and I can clearly see everything. I am here inside my room at Jinny’s pad. I rubbed my eyes with my fingers and yawned. I am really not in the mood to walk around as of the moment that’s why I started to close my eyes again. I will just take one day absent from school. “Miracle! Are you awake now?” I heard Jinny’s voice that boomed from the outside. So, she already came back from her shoot abroad. I was about to answer her back when the door abruptly swung open and her jaw fell. She looked at my direction with a surprised or shocked reaction. “Holy mother of freaking jeez cokes!” she uttered. That was when the time I realized that she was not actually looking at me but on the left side of the bed. My forehead creased as I looked at the direction she’s looking at and I just hope I didn’t do it anyway. I saw King, lying comfortably beside me. I never knew he was there. Heck! I even thought he was just one of my hallucinations. “Uhm… I-I… I can explain Jinny.” I stood up and briskly walked towards the room’s entrance. I held her hand. I know she’s still shocked and well, it’s my fault because I am not supposed to bring anyone here. This is her house and is a private place. I know she will be mad. “Jinny, I’m sorry about him. It’s just that, well… I thought I am still hallucinating or something.” Her mouth forms a full ‘O’ and she looked at me with disbelief. “Hell! What is that man doing here?!” asked Jinny. He pointed out King who was half naked and was still sleeping. “He… he helped me –“ My sentence remained unfinished when King stirred and then he frantically searched for something and relief washed his system when he saw me. He rose from the bed and hurriedly walked to my direction. He hugged me tight which totally caught me off guard. “I thought you did something stupid again. Don’t scare me like that Yana,” he said. Minutes later, he distanced himself from me and he looked at me in the eye. “Oh my Gee!” Jinny shrieked and both me and King looked at her. I saw how she hyperventillated and she keeps on fanning herself using her hand. Is the room that hot? But the air-conditioning system is turned on since last night. “Is there something wrong Jinny?” I asked her. “I… I need to breath.” She was talking to herself and then when she was calm, she pulled me to the living room and of coursse, King tailed us. We sat down on the sofa seat and she looked at me this her piercing gaze. “Do tell me Miracle, why is King Spartan freaking Racer here?” she asked me. Wait… she knows him? “You know him?” “Well apparently, almost everyone in this country knows him.” She scooted towards me and pulled me a little bit. Later then, she whispered; “He is a freaking elegible bachelor that has a net worth of whooping millions.” My eyes, I bet they were as wide as saucers now. Jinny’s got to be kidding me. I laughed out loud at her but suddenly I realized that she was serious. I looked at King who was completely clueless as to why I am laughing. My questioning gaze went back to Jinny. “But, how come? I mean, he just saved me from two straight deaths yesterday,” I whispered back at her. “Huh? Death? What the hell happened?!” “Well, s**t happened.” I narrated everthing to her from start to finish. She was shocked and she was also sympathetic. She hugged me so tight. “If I could just see that fvcking @sshole then I will no doubt wring his neck and freaking crush his goddamn balls,” Jinny said as she was gritting her teeth. And in this moment, I feel really grateful that I have a friend like her. “You don’t need to stoop down to their level Jinny. I can handle myself just fine.” She snorted and then looked at me with ‘what–the–freak–are–you-saying’ look. “Says the one who tried to get herself pathetically killed.” “I was hurt okay? My emotions clouded my judgement and I don’t still have had a full grasp of the situation.” “You are so defensive. Anyway, I don’t want to act like a b***h but, doesn’t he want to go home already? I get it that he’s super concerned citizen and he is a sweet person but I am not comfortable because he gazes at us all the time.” “I don’t know. I am shy to approach him.” “Wow! After I saw you two in bed. Shy my ass. Anyway, I will be the one who will do the talking.” I paled when Jinny cleared her throat and she looked at King intently. Clearly, she wants to intimidate him but I did not saw that he flinched or even became affected. “Mr. Racer, I am Jinny Vivien Wisede, the owner of this unit and also one of the friends of Miracle here. So, I just want to thank you for helping my friend. I know you are a good person – a kind one – but I just want to ask, since I am curious now, don’t you want to head out now or something?” “Well, thank you too Ms. Wisede, the owner of this unit and also one of the friends of Yana. So, I just want to say you are welcome too. I know how much you want me out of your place but I need to ask for your permission. I am bringing my fiancee with me.” “Eh? Who? I mean, what fiancee are you talking about?” Jinny looked puzzled. “Yana. She’s my fiancee and we will get married as soon as possible. I actually want to inform you too that she’s going to move out today. We will be living at my house since it is the rightful thing to do.” Jinny was tongue-tied. I saw how she tried to process every detail that was spilled like a hot milk in front of her. “Pardon? Fiancee? Hey! You are wrong, my friend here is just… she’s single and she doesn’t have a boyfriend anymore – since that bastard screwed someone else behind her back, I wish his soul will be sent to satan – but then you… I don’t think you are on your right mind.” My conscience started to gnaw my insides. I bit my lower lip as I held Jinny’s arm. “Uhmm… Jinny. He’s – he’s really telling the truth. I am his – fiancee,” I trailed. I stuttered as I admitted it. I know it wil sound so ridiculous. Jinny fell silent and it makes me more anxious. “Oh hell and heavens! I can’t believe this. Seriously? Getting married? Really?” Jinny asked as if the idea of marriage is somewhat ridiculous. “Got a problem with that Ms. Wisede?” asked King. He sounds so intimidating and so I glared at him. Clearly, my friend is still trying to grasp the situation. “There is no problem with that. But you see, Miracle is still studying,” Jinny pointed out. “I will not be a problem to her. I assure you. Please do tell your other friends too. I don’t want them to overreact. And you are all invited to our wedding. I do hope that you understand us or rather me. My intentions to her are purely…” “I get it now. Just don’t hurt our dear baby or you will see your own head rolling on the floor. I am not bluffing Mr. Racer.” “You can be assured. I always keep my word,” King answered thus giving assurance to my dear friend. “Give us time to pack her belongings Mr. Racer.” King just nodded as he gaave Jinny the permission to take me bac to my room. As she closed the door, she held my hand and she screamed without a sound. You know how to do that? Well, she’s doing that everytime she feels giddy inside. “Friend! You did not tell me that you found a better man than your asshole ex. I’m really happy for you and at the same time envious of you.” My forehead creased. I understand that she will be happy for me but envious? There’s nothing to be envious about. “Why are you evious? I can’t see the reason why.” “Duh girl! Your husband to be is like one in a million. A big fish in the ocean and the one that stands out from the crowd. He’s got all the qualities a girl can look in a man. He’s got the looks since his face is almost perfect. He’s got the physique and don’t ever forget his fat bank account.” “I won’t marry him for those reasons. He’s the man who saved me and he is my hero.” “I know that but I am just saying that it’s a plus factor. If that will be in the restaurants, it’s an add on. Anyway, where is your suitcase? I will help you with packing your things. Your hubby might get bored there.” I blushed when I heard her address King as my hubby. I tried to clear my throat as I pointed out the suitcase above the cabinet. Jinny climbed up a chair to get that and soon, we started stuffing my things on it. “Hey girl, don’t forget to send us the wedding invitations okay? I want to look how fabulous your gown will be and where will you held your wedding. I bet it will be grand.” “I don’t care whether or not my wedding is grand or if my gown is expensive. What matters is that, I will be married to him as planned.” “Oh my gosh! Do you have feelings for him already?” Jinny asked me. She even gripped the bed sheet as she anxiously waited for my answer. “Uhmmm… it’s not hard to like him. And, is it bad to fall again after a heart break?” “Of course not! That’s even better. You can completely take your freaking ex off your system since he is so toxic. Don’t dwell on the past anymore. You need to move forward now and show them that you are a gem hidden amongst the stones on the ground that they step on. Show them that you are not named Miracle if you can’t make a miracle of your own.” “What can I do without a friend like you? Thank you so much for everything Jinny. For letting me stay here in your pad when I have nowhere else to go. You, Mariah and your twin brother are the only friends I’ve got in my life. And I know that I did not go wrong in befriending you. You’ve considered me like a sister you have never had. Thank you so much.” “Hey! Don’t say that! What friends are for right? And you know… you are making me cry so early in the morning. You will go now and yet you still manage to make my heart constrict.” “I’m sorry Jinny.” “It’s okay Miracle. I wish you all the best. I hope that you will be happy with that man. And please don’t hesitate to call us when you have a problem or if you need an advice or if you already miss us, okay?” “Okay. I’ll miss you Jinny.” “I will miss you too surely.”
