Chapter 6 Inexplicably, Jordan’s headache left as quickly as it had come. He climbed to his feet, unnerved by the silence in the house. Bennie? He tried the door. Unlocked? Not daring to question it, he yanked it open and ran for the stairs, taking them two at a time. He paused at the top to catch his breath before entering the attic to confront whatever waited for him. He glanced into the room and swore, shocked to find the attic dark except for the spill of yellow light from the bare bulb overhead.
