[SELENE POV]
I woke up to the sound of machines.
Beeping. Soft voices. The smell of medicine.
My throat was dry. My back burned like fire. I tried to move and pain shot through me.
“Do not move,” a voice said. Luma.
I opened my eyes. White ceiling. White walls. Med bay.
Luma was sitting next to my bed. Her head had a bandage. She looked tired.
“You are awake,” she whispered and took my hand. “Thank God.”
"I feel dizzy." My voice was rough.
"The scorpion venom is out. Professor Kade synthesized the antidote from the mutant’s own protein markers. You will be fine," she answered quickly.
"Cael?" I asked in fear.
Her face changed. "He is stable. Lucky for him. His organs were not damaged."
Relief hit me so hard I started crying. “He protected me. He took the hit for me.”
