The Head Doctor stayed silent for some seconds before responding to Emily's question.
"I don't know who it was. All the transactions were made anonymously. But I'm sure it's someone you or your family might know." The Head Doctor stated and left the room after a humble bow at Victor's direction.
Emily couldn't imagine anyone going to such lengths for her family, but she was grateful for the anonymous helper nonetheless, and smiled. Sam stormed out of the room, feeling embarrassed that the spotlight had been taken from him.
Seconds later, Victor and Emily arrived at the entrance of the Hospital, and just as Victor had ordered Mister Collins, a cab man approached them and asked to take them home. They both went in and arrived at the Herbert Mansion minutes later.
Dropping them by the gate side, Emily asked for the Cab man's account details but his reply caught her off guard.
With a grin, the cab driver spoke from the car, "The payment has already been made."
Victor was delighted, but he decided to play dumb for the time being. Emily was confused upon hearing about the payment for the cab. She was sure her husband didn't make the payment, and neither did she.
With a bold yet humble tone, Emily asked the cab driver who had made the payment for the cab. But she ended up receiving a familiar response.
"I don't know who it was; the payment was made anonymously to me," the cab driver said and zoomed off.
Emily turned to Victor and asked sharply, "Who could this Anonymous Helper be?"
The question struck Victor surprisingly, and he stuttered in reply, "Maybe it's someone who is into you, or your family."
Thinking about Victor's response, it slowly dawned on Emily that it might be true. She had indeed received a lot of favors since her high school days, so that explains it. But all the favors she had received before now had never been made anonymously; all the men loved to boast about their wealth and status in society, just as Sam did in the hospital.
They both walked inside the compound and were heading to the boys' quarters when Rita and her fiance drove in.
"Hey sis, I heard your husband couldn't afford his hospital bills, so how did you people get out?" Rita muttered with a disdainful expression.
"Maybe they ran away from the hospital," Rita's fiance, Rogan, mocked from the driver's seat.
Meanwhile, Emily and Victor just stood there silently. Soon, John who was heading out walked into the conversation after hearing Rita asking about how Emily and her husband made it home.
"Luckily Sam was kind enough to save their asses. I heard he was headed to the hospital an hour ago." John said with a grin as he gazed at them.
"Oh! That makes more sense. I knew that the poor husband couldn't afford dinner, let alone hospital bills." Rogan added more spiteful words and parked his car few distance away.
Victor wondered what gave Rogan the right to look down on him when he wasn't even a member of the family yet. However, Victor was sure to include Rogan among the people he was going to punish as time went on.
John on the other hand was equally to be punished as the rest of them because he's the one who turned the Herbert family against him.
Emily and Victor decided to walk inside their room to avoid further humiliations. As they sat down, Victor narrated all that Emily needed to know, skipping most of the details from the story.
Victor told Emily that his truck was stolen and he had to run for his life, causing him to pass out after running many miles home. From Emily's point of view, Victor's story added up. She did see his truck destroyed due to the accident, so if Victor had been a victim in the accident as well, he would have had scars all over him even though he survived.
Rephrasing the incident, Victor quickly remembered that the men who kidn*pped him intended to kill him on someone's orders. Since he was still alive, he suspected that the employer might attempt again.
Although Victor feared less, knowing that death couldn't prevail over him, he still needed to uncover the mastermind behind it all and punish them before another attempt was made.
With that in mind, Victor decided to give Mister Collins another call. He promptly entered their room and dialed Mister Collins' saved number. Once again, Mister Collins answered right away.
"Mister Collins," Victor spoke with a bold voice.
Mister Collins curved a smile, thinking Victor wanted to show appreciation for how he had perfectly arranged the hospital bills and the cab that drove them home. However, that wasn't the reason for the call.
"Last night, I was attacked, and the men who attacked me told me that someone sent them to eliminate me. I want you to find out who they were and who sent them," Victor ordered, feeling increasingly like a man of wealth and power.
Mister Collins bowed slightly from the other side of the line and gave a positive response, "Yes, my Lord, I will look into it right away and give you feedback in no time." With that, the call was ended.
Victor couldn't wait to show the Herbert family and Rogan how wealthy his family was too. Soon, Emily came to inform him that Lady Herbert had requested their presence in the Mansion.
"What humiliations have they in store for us this time?" Victor said in his head and followed Emily.
Reaching inside the Mansion, Victor spotted his ruthless boss, Mister Wilson, the original owner of the truck that he had been driving. Immediately Mister Wilson saw Victor, he barked angrily from across the hall. "You scumbag! So you're alive after all and my truck is being pushed down to the garage!"
Mister Wilson had heard about the accident involving his truck and had brought police officers with him to arrest Victor.
