We decided to go down to the kitchen so I could find something else to eat. Of course within 5 seconds I was reminded that I knew absolutely nothing about vampires. She stood up from the bed. When she opened the door a ray of sunlight from the hall window came in. She jumped back, and by instinct I leaped toward her, and shut the door.
“Are you okay?” I panicked. I felt so stupid to not think of that. I told myself I have to be more careful. She’s my mate, I have to be able to protect her from everything.
She sighed, “I am. Don’t worry it doesn’t hurt me that bad. It’s more inconvenient. I just forgot this place isn’t covered with dark black curtains everywhere.”
