Zeke held on to Nova tightly with his teeth. He had gripped her from the fabric of her shirt, and was pulling her away from her father, and from Ellie. The candles around the room all blew out without anyone touching them. The air seemed to get colder even though we were in a basement. There was a noise coming from the middle of the room where Ellie and Nicolai were laying. It sounded like cracks. Zeke and I had night vision, but I felt like what we were seeing was wrong. The herbs Ellie put on Nicolai’s body started to move around him, and as they would run over his body, it would restore it. He soon had skin on his skeleton again. Starting with his limbs, then his face, and finally his core. He was human again. Then the candles all lit back up one by one.
