As the days started to get cooler, the anxiety levels around the palace seemed to keep increasing. News of flooding began to reach us before the waters did. The intense roiling waters that came down from the mountains washing out much of the canal system, the ponds in the gardens flooded, the floors constantly soggy. Royal children were carried by servants while noble children waited for rides on carts around the palace, the lower class children stayed in their homes, hiding from the waters and avoiding leaving the warmth of their fires. Servants waded through the swirling waters, unplugging drains and rescuing smaller items from the lower gardens, relief stations with warm food and clean clothing were in most of the hallways.
