That Night Changed Everything

757 Words
The sun shines through the window, making Emilia wake up. She was confused about why she was in bed with someone before the memories of what happened flooded her. She looked to see who the person was, and it was Ricco. She quietly came down from the bed and hurriedly put on her clothes. She tiptoed to the door and almost opened it when a hand closed it and whispered in her ear, "Where do you think you are going to?" Ricco said. Emilia gently turns back and sees him. She smiled at him, but he carried her and dropped her in a seat. "Who was the guy with you at the party last night?" he asked. "Oh! He's Aldo, my schoolmate," She said. Ricco and Aldo know themselves in the business world, but he wants to know how she gets to know him. "Ricco, about what happened last night, forget about it," she said, her voice soft, avoiding his gaze. But he stood still, eyes dark with conviction, " I won't", he said, his voice low. "I'll think about it, every single moment of it. Before she could respond, a sudden knock at the door shattered the tension. A guard's voice called from outside, urgent and formal. She hastily retreated to the corner, her heart pounding. Concealing herself just as the man opened the door. "Sir, there's an urgent message for you, the guard reported. A brief conversation ensued, measured words, a cold tone, and a flicker of something unspoken in the man's eyes. When the door finally closed, she stepped out of hiding, her voice trembling with betrayal. " Why didn't you tell me who you really are? Anger flared in her chest. The truth he had held, the weight of his world. You are a Mafia boss. Don't tell me you are also Mr. Leo. What else are you hiding from me? Even if we have known each other for the past months, at least I have the right to know you, but I don't even get to know half of you. You lied that you're working for Mr. Leo. I guess that's right. "You know what? am leaving" Pls, Emilia, let's settle this matter now. He said "There's nothing to settle; I'm going home." I have an emergency, crucial board meeting that I will be going to now, and it might last for a month, but can I at least take you home? Pls, Emilia, let's talk. Emilia left, and he doesn't know whether to follow her, but he has a meeting that needs his attention. He contacted Ronald, briefed him about the meeting, and made necessary preparations before leaving, but he vowed to come back to Emilia. Three weeks later..... A sharp pain twisted in Emilia's lower abdomen as she clutched her stomach, her face pale under the clinic's fluorescent lights. Moments later, she sat in the doctor's office, still and silent, as the words fell from the physician's lips. "Miss Emilia, congratulations. You're three weeks pregnant. Her heart stilled. Joy and fear warred within her, each battling for dominance. She wasn't sure whether to feel elated or devastated. Her fingers trembled slightly as she stepped outside, the weight of the diagnosis pressing heavily on her chest. The only person she wanted to speak to – the only one who deserved to know – was Ricco. She dialed his number with hesitant fingers, each ring echoing louder in her ears than the last. Finally, someone answered. But it wasn't his voice. "Hello?" A woman's voice - soft, possessive – floated through the receiver. Emilia froze. Her lips parted, but no words came. She ended the call without a sound, her heart sinking. Days later, the city buzzed with whispers. Ricco Leo, the heir and CEO of LEO's group, was returning for an official engagement –his fiancée: Lucia Russo, the daughter of a powerful political family. The Union had been approved and blessed by both families. Emilia felt the ground split beneath her. She couldn't ruin his future, not when he had so much at stake. With a resolve forged in pain, she made a decision. She would leave the city. Quietly. Without a trace. And for that, there was only one person she could trust. Matteo. Though they hadn't spoken in months, he promised he'd be there no matter what. With trembling hands and a firm heart, she reached out to him – not for herself, but for the child she now carried. It was time to disappear - for good.
