Chapter 21 I'm Late

1236 Words
When Robert was done hitting his Chinese teacher, he raised his hand as if he was going to slap her again.   "I'll never do it again! Please, stop!" The teacher cried and begged.   Robert was still enraged, but he decided to grab her by the arm and throw her out of the room, rather than continue beating her.   "Get out of here! Remember, I only beat mean women!" Robert warned angrily, slamming the door behind.   Looking at the food scattered on the ground, he shook his head sadly. He picked up the broom and started cleaning.   "I, let me help you..." Abby whispered.   The two of them began to wipe the food off the floor. Neither said a word for a long time, they did not want to break the sweet peaceful moment. Finally, Abby couldn’t stay quiet any longer, “Did you say that I was your…woman?”   She lowered her head and asked in nervously, too shy to look at him.   Robert did not respond for a moment, he nodded though. He took a deep breath and said, “Yes, you are mine!”   "Puff..." Abby covered her mouth, trying not to laugh then she wiped away tears, which were filled with excitement.   "Hungry?" She smiled. "I will go get some new lunch!”   After a while, Abby was back and handed the food to Robert. As he was eating, Robert asked, “Why did you bring me food anyway?”   Abby handed him a bottle of water, moving closer she replied, “I heard Adele saying you were studying, and didn’t want to come eat. That is why!”   She blushed as she spoke, trying to quickly change the subject, Abby took a card out of her pocket. She put it on the table in front of Robert, “There is a big auction in New York tomorrow. I received this VIP card but I think you might be more interested.”   "Auction?" Robert was curious, he was excited to find out what would be for sale.   "Well, I heard there was going to be some scrolls there. It seems strange to me though,” Abby smiled and pushed the card closer to Robert.   “Thank you so much!” Robert took the card and smiled.   ** Early the next morning, Robert changed back to his tattered Taoist robe. He didn’t like to be watched when he went out with his Portledge School uniform, he didn’t want to be recognized.   "Hmm, that’s what I need!” Robert was happy and comfortable with his clothes, then went to ask for an absence from class for the day.     Originally, he thought about inviting Abby and Adele to go with him, but they could not miss class and he only had one VIP card. He waited for his taxi, wondering who and what would be at the auction.   The taxi driver got out of his car, when he pulled up. Robert showed the driver the address on the card and asked, “Please take me to this place!”      "Exorcist, do you have money on you? I won’t work for free!” The driver looked him up and down, blowing his cigarette smoke in Robert’s face. He took the cigarette and burnt a hole in Robert’s tattered robe.   Robert sighed then took $100,000 out of his backpack and threw it in the driver’s face. He had seen so many people like him, “With this money, I could buy your car, then even hire you as my private driver, am I correct?”   He snatched the driver’s cigarette and burned the front hood of the taxi. Without hesitation, the driver opened the car door and respectfully said, “Oh, I am terribly sorry, Sir. It is my fault, please accept my apology.”   The auction appeared to be extremely luxurious as they arrived at the address. It was a five-star hotel, two bodyguards dressed in black and wearing dark sunglasses were guarding the entrance.     Seeing Robert was walking in the building, one put his arm out and said coldly, “Please show your VIP card!”   Robert took his card out and handed to them, "Here you go!”   The bodyguard took off his sunglasses, looked carefully at Robert then his VIP Card. He threw the card back at Robert, “Do you think you can fool me with your fake card? Get out of here!”   "Whatever, forget it! I need to talk to the one in charge!” Robert waved his hands in the air.   The bodyguard was just about to physically kick him out, when a middle-aged man stopped him. He appeared to be the bodyguards boss.   "What’s going on here?" He looked at the VIP card in the Robert’s hand and asked.   Before the bodyguard could speak, Robert handed the card to the man, “You just need to tell me whether this card is real or not?”   The middle-aged man took a close look at his card, then looked up and down again to Robert, "It is real! But, how did you get it?”   "Okay, thanks!" Robert ignored them, grabbed his card back then rushed pass them.   "Who is that young man?” The bodyguard shook his head.   The middle-aged man's expression changed, "This is the first row of Supreme VIP Cards, we only made six in total. But he looks like a little exorcist...could he be...a hidden master?”   Robert went straight to the second floor, where the auction was being held. There were so many wealthy and famous people, it was not an event for ordinary people to attend. The lowest auction item would still cost at least tens of millions of dollars.   There was only one seat left in the middle of the first row. Everyone was discussing about which tycoon would sit in this most noble seat.   "It is estimated he may be a real tycoon from the Long family!"   "That’s impossible, the Long family is not rich enough to get this much honorable treatment.”   "It doesn't matter. Whoever he is, I don’t care about anything but my stuff here today!” A man said, it was none other than Aaron James. The director of Academic Affairs at Portledge, the one Robert fought with before.   Suddenly, the door opened and everyone turned to look. They expected someone covered in jewels but instead they saw a young man in a tattered robe walking in.   "Sorry, I'm late," He apologized and sat in the center seat.   Aaron cursed under his breath, “What the actual f**k? Why is Robert here? How could he get a VIP card?”   It took a moment then he realized that Abby had to have given him the card. Aaron smirked, he had a plan on how to deal with Robert.   Everyone else in the room was surprised, they all began to guess the identity of the young man wearing a grey robe.     Robert smiled at everyone, but he didn’t really care. He knew people would look at him, he was not going to allow that to stop him though.   "Welcome everyone! Welcome to the auction! I am the host, Meenas White..." An delicate voice came from the stage.
