CHAPTER FOUR— ~TRISTAN~ I was lucky to have found Becca at the hospital. When I first saw her, I was shocked to my bones, but I was quick enough to hide my countenance before she noticed anything. She looked exactly like Megan. The same, eyes, color, and stature. Everything about them was the same except for the hair color. Megan is a redhead while Becca is blonde. The moment I laid eyes on Becca, I was captivated. I felt like the universe had brought her my way on purpose. I never used to believe in faith up until now. As I listened to her tell her story, it sounded like music to my ears. If her wedding was called off, it means she’s single and I stand a chance with her. After that day, I looked her up and got all the information I could about her. I saw the guy she was engaged to—their engagement photos were plastered all over her social media posts. I know the jerk—Logan Reign. He is into real estate, just as I am. He had a bit of change here and there but his wealth was nothing compared to mine. I was glad when I got a call from her a few days later that she was interested in signing the contract. Without wasting time, I invited her to my mansion. I put a call through to my lawyer and he arrived shortly after with the document held firmly in his hands. He placed it on the table before her. “All you have to do is sign here,” he pointed at a spot in the lower part of the document. “I should call my lawyer—“ She was suddenly interrupted by the loud ringing of her phone and she picked it up and placed it to her ears. “What!” She jolted out of her seat, her face plastered in shock. I stared at her, wondering what was going on. “O-Okay. I’m on my way,” she said frantically and cut off the call. “Is everything alright?” I asked with raised brows. “My cousin has a crisis and she needs emergency money. I need that money now!” “But the contract—“ “I’ll sign it now!” She snatched the pen from the table and swiftly signed on the document, her fingers shaking like a jellyfish. I could tell that she really loved this cousin for her not to read the document. I transferred the money into her account as promised. She was about to dash off when I grabbed her arm. “What is it?” She turned to face me in annoyance, her eyes blinking impatiently. “Remember from now on, you belong to me till the contract is over,” I blurted out with narrowed eyes, my tone serious. She stared at me for a second, before yanking her hand away and bolting out of the house. I heaved a sigh and sat back on my seat, dismissing the lawyer with the wave of a finger. I brought out my phone from my pocket and dialed a number. The receiver picked up at the second ring. “Get a wedding planner. We have an engagement party to plan,” “Yes sir!” I cut the call and was about to leave when my chief home keeper, Aunt Magret rushed up to meet me. She has been my nanny since I was young and pretty much the oldest staff member I’ve ever had. She reminds me in different ways of my mother, and that is why we have an emotional attachment to date. “Who is that lady? Is that—“ “No!” I interrupted sharply. “She’s not the one. Don’t ever mention that name again in this house. All the other workers who know about Megan have been sacked. You’re here up until now because you’re like a mother to me and I trust you,” She nodded. “Of course, I understand,” “Get ready,” I stood up, adjusting the tie on my neck. “She’ll be moving in soon,” “What!” Her eyes bulged out in shock but I had better urgent matters to attend to and wasn't bothered about explaining anything right now. “We’ll talk later,” I gave her a light pat on the shoulder and walked out of the house.
