CHAPTER FIFTEEN ~BECCA~ “Excuse me, ma’am. You forgot your card in the car,” I glanced in the direction of the sound and could see the driver walking towards us. I guess I had forgotten to keep it in my purse before dozing off in the car. “Here you go,” he handed it over to me. I sighed in relief as I collected it from him and acknowledged him to leave with a nod. “Looks like you plan to pretend till the end. Well, then let’s see how it goes,” Kristen scoffed. I turned to the stylist who picked up the payment machine. I slotted the card in and the amount was debited. “Thank you for your patronage, Miss Becca. I’ll pack the blue dress immediately,” “Don’t forget to also pack the dress I wore here,” She nodded and disappeared from our presence. I sat back on the chair, watching Kristen’s expression carefully. Her eyes twitched in confusion and surprise. Logan also looked flaggabasted. “D-Did you actually pay for that?” Her voice was humble and low. “Of course I did,” “That means you have been sleeping with random men for money!” She suddenly spat, her tone going from zero to a hundred. “What?” My eyes widened. “Yes, that’s the only way you can afford this,” she turned to Logan. “Turns out, Becca has been cheating on you all this time. She stooped so low to be serviced by rich men, all because she wants to prove a point after her breakup,” “How disappointing!” Logan clicked his teeth, staring at me in disgust. I scoffed, staring at both of them in disbelief. They have been the ones cheating and they dare turn it around and accuse me of the same thing without evidence? I can’t believe I was ever close to them. I was disgusted that I made poor choices in choosing people that I hold dear to my heart. I stood up, taking a step towards them. My eyes were cold, my brows furrowed. “I guess you can’t wrap the fact that I’m surviving without you two around your thick skulls but guess what, this is only the beginning. I’ll see you around,” And with that, I went downstairs to pick up my dress and got back into the car. I exhaled the breath I didn’t know I was holding and breathed out. I can’t believe I just said that. I looked them in the eyes and spoke to them without breaking down. Looks like I’m finally moving on. ~TRISTAN~ I sat in my car, speaking with the wedding planner. She suggested we have an engagement meeting photoshoot at one of the most beautiful beach resorts in the country. After showing me a vision board and the plans she had made, I approved for her to begin work immediately. “The shoot will be happening today at five, when the sun is just going down. It’s the perfect time,” “Alright. Make the arrangements and I’ll get the logistics ready,” “Of course sir,” she nodded. She got out and shut the door behind her. “To the hospital!” I said to the driver and rested my head on the seat head’s rest. Grandma had been going in and out of the hospital frequently because of her failing health. Plus, she had dementia so I wanted her to come stay with me for a while after she gets discharged. She has always had a separate house where she lived with my cousins but with all of them married, she had been staying alone at home. No wonder she was pressuring me to get married and was willing to let go of her shares to make me hasten the process. Soon enough, we got to the hospital and I went straight to the doctor’s office. I sat on the chair opposite her, listening to her speak. “Your grandma is doing pretty well and she will be discharged by the weekend. Her blood pressure has gotten a lot better and her sugar levels are starting to drop,” “That’s great news,” I sighed in relief. Grandma was the only parent I knew after my dad died a few years ago. Mum had remarried and was living with her new husband in Canada, although she came to visit once in a while but it was never the same anymore. I left the doctor’s office and went straight to grandma’s ward. She was sitting on her bed in the VIP room and munching on some sugarless popcorn as she watched the television in front of her. “Grandma!” My eyes lit up as I took my seat beside her. She smiled, making her wrinkles look more obvious. “Tristan! Cookie!” I took her hands in mine and caressed it, a smile forming on my face. “I’m glad to see you’re doing okay,” “My body is an old machine so I’m not going to give up so easily,” she laughed and munched on some more popcorn. “Yeah, I know you’re a fighter,” I cleared my throat, thinking of the best way to announce this. I knew grandma would be glad to see that I’m taking my life seriously but the problem is, what would she think when she sets her eyes on Becca. “I have something to tell you, Grandma,” “You look so serious. I’m guessing this is important,” she sat up and put her popcorn aside. “Yes, it is. I’m getting married again,”
