"Hey, what about the designs, are they ready?" Alison asked Paige who walked as fast as she could trying to catch up with Alison at the same time checking up on all the documents. "Yes they are ready, I printed the drafts both in hard and soft copy the files are in the box well packaged. You have nothing to worry about," she assured. Alison nodded, today was the last day at her old office. She signed a temporary transfer with Paige to the new office at the branch in Upper East Side. Alison and Paige checked on all their important documents, all the permits, the transfer file and the finalization of Mr Wilson work were sent in today. The new design for the renovation of his hotel was sent in today, so Paige has no worry or other disruption for their new job. Initially, Mr Wilson could not contain the surprise on his face as it was sent a bit earlier than the agreed time, and it was perfect, with no errors. Everything suit his liking. Now concentrating on Leonardo's project, Alison noticed the there was a lot to do, given she was assuming the post of the new supervisor and overall director of the project. She managed to put in all the important documents she would need for work. "Paige, what of the building permit file?" She asked worried today was the last day at the office here, and she needs to make sure that all was packed and errors were not made if there was to be an error it should be very minimal and easy to solve expecting an answer from Paige who sighed warily at her, "Alison, the building permit is not meant to be with us. It is with the west side office, with that guy Ryan, I called him, and he said he filed everything necessary. No worries, over here we have all that is needed." She placed a soothing palm on her shoulders, Alison trusted Paige professionalism and how it was very rare to see her make silly mistakes. If anyone was making a mistake, that would be Alison. Because she made the mistake of feeling adrenaline rush to the blood with anticipation that she might see Leonardo tomorrow. Reaching home, she made sure all her stuff were packed earlier Alison sent Sam to Gran Karen house, Lily came to pick her up in her little car. She picked Sam and took her to Gran Karen house. Lily contract covered the fact that she would live with Gran Karen within three months until Alison is done with the project. Finally, all was packed, her clothes and her work pads. She packed them orderly into her bags. Being done with her pack, she felt the urge to visit Samantha's room, she gently tapped her feet on the wooden floor and opened the door. She took a glance at the purple painted room, a side of the wall was covered in Minnie mouse wallpaper. A little desk meant for Sam scribbling hugged the wall. Alison trudged more inside, locking the door behind her, she sat on her little bed and took a glance at her room, Alison's throat tightened as she felt very nostalgic, she thought back to Richard and how she expected to see this moment with him. Since he majored in Literature and wanted to be a book writer, he shared dreams of him having a home office. He would love to work from home and probably love to be a stay at home dad, he said, unlike his father he would love to have a real bond with his children. She remembered all those moments back then at college he said he could not wait to see them married, she had so much hope in Richard then. Because he created hope in her, he gave her the promise of a family. Just before it could materialize, he snatched her hopes and shattered them into grains. The remainder of what was left could not surmount to anything. Recalling, Richard has always been lazy, a procrastinator. When he shared his plans with Alison actualizing them became a problem, Alison had enough of the excuses he made, whenever she confronted him reminding him of his promises. It turns to an insult, but it never changed something in her. It never changed her from believing in him, it never stopped her from giving him those multiple chances. When he left that night she told him she was pregnant, and later came back pretending to be happy with her after apologizing, she believed in him. Believed his stupid lies and all. Just then Samantha was about to be born, he presented her with a divorce paper, wanting their marriage no more. Are we not too young for marriage? She remembered telling him six years ago. When he left that particular night, she went into labour, holding on to the rail to survive the excruciating pain she was receiving. Driving herself to the hospital. She kept on believing that the divorce was a joke, and he would come back. It did hurt her, when Sam grew up without a father or when she waited for him, for the first year of Sam's life. But he never came back, he never showed up. He thought he took all from her, he thought he destroyed all of her, left no ground for her growth and her recovery, so he thought. He gave her a little gift before he left. He gave her Samantha and that little thing he saw with little significance, the little thing he saw deemed not to know. The little thing that he rejected before she was born grew to be what healed her, made her want to have a purpose again and let her live. Samantha was his gift to her, the gift he hated. It hurt to see her leaving her daughter this way, she wanted more for Sam. She wanted to be there for Sam always and going away seems like a very tough decision to do, but she must provide an even better future for her daughter. Before Sam left, Alison went to a jewellery store and bought two lockets, one for Sam and the other for her. In that lockets, she placed her photograph in Sam's and Sam's in her hers. "Mom, what are these?" Sam asked while at the store. "Sweetheart they are lockets, you know like a necklace that has a deeper sentimental value to it." "Senti...tal," Alison smiled as Sam tried to mutter sentiment, Alison has always loved the eagerness to learn in her daughter. "It is called sentimental, it means it holds more mushy feelings to whatever we have. You know love, these lockets hold you very close to my heart so that mommy won't miss her baby too much." "Hmm, Sam also has mommy photograph in her locket too. It means that Sam would always love you and won't cry too much when you travel because you are here in my heart." "Aww, that sweet Samantha, now tell me is that the only reason you won't miss mommy." Samantha giggled lightly, "No! Gran and Lily promised to bake me chocolate brownies and buy a lot of chocolates for me if I don't cry." "Was that the secret? Because mommy just found out," Alison announced, giggling at Samantha's big mouth, who told them that Samantha can keep a secret. It took a while before Samantha realized she said a very huge secret that might ruin her chance of having all the Chocolatey sweets that she wants. Alison noticing Sam sudden low mood squatted down, "Don't look sad, you know what you can take whatever chocolate you want when Mom is away but don't take too much. I would speak to Gran Karen about it, so is Sam happy now?" Samantha nodded happily, her blue eyes brightening up. Closing the door, she mentally prepared herself for tomorrow. It would be her very first time leaving Sam, and she felt nervous.
