“Inject her with Unter.” “Unter?” “The blue one!” “Oh yes.” “Anything happened?” “Not so far.” “Mmm” “Oh wait!” “What? What is it?” “Her heart rate has gone up quite fast, like if she is running a marathon.” “Oh, now inject the Ascra.” “Ummm…” “Ugh! The orange one!” “Right.” “Now!” “Hmm?” “Any effect?” “Sadly not.” “Try the Welan.” “Oh I know this one it’s the purple one.” “Yes, well done. Now get on with it!” “Nothing.” “Ugh how about the Oshdel?” “I don’t know we have been injecting her with all these and putting her body through all this work. I am just not sure if she will make it.” “Oshdel! Now!” “But..-“ “She will make it.” “Okay.” Rishi picked up a tub of cloudy white liquid. Pulled out a new serine and sucked the water like liquid up into it. Then wheeling around on the stool he took Phoebe’s left wrist in his left hand and took a deep gulp of breath before plunging the serine into her crook of her inside elbow pushing the cloudy liquid in. Before he could pull it out of phoebe’s body started fitting, making the needle in her arm rip the skin open and for the needle to go flying across the room. A screech escaped her mouth making Rishi cover his ears. “It’s working.” The woman said excitedly with a smile plastered on her face. “Yes it is.” Rishi said solemnly. *** All that I can see is darkness, no light. Soon my body was engulfed in pain, suite but sharp. A pain that you can cope with then every now and then gets so violent and painful. Again my body got added a new pain on top of the other one, this one making my head throb and feel like it's clay in someone's hands. Getting pulled and stretched this way and that way. Making the two together easily the worst pain I’ve ever felt. Feeling something warm on my left arm again and then a numb poke something fast and burning spread throughout my body. Igniting all my nerves. Feeling my body burning as pain numbs my body. I start to twist and move my body to help with the pain. And maybe try to put out the dancing flames on my skin. Just as fast as the pain came it fizzled away leaving me feeling like my whole body had pins and needles. Trying so hard to catch a breath my lungs are starving and hungry for oxygen. Raspy breathing and lightly burning skin. “Please make it stop, it hurts.” I husk out as sweat pooled me. Answering my prayers it all stopped as I became weightless in darkness. I was finally at peace. So quiet and nice. *** Opening my eyes I am blinded by bright light. It's been, I believe, a week since I came here to what I've heard them calling the institution. Every day they take me to a different medical room with a bed. And every other week they will take me to see that person and answer more questions. For all of it I've been bedridden or placed in a wheelchair. So far I've tried to escape basically everyday. Key word ‘tried’. Today is like every other. I am unsure what happened to me. My mind is all fuzzy and hazy. Like always someone will come in with a tray of food and a cup of water and a shot glass with five? No six? I am unsure about the number of pills. Big ones, blue ones, pink ones, smooth ones, bitter ones, round ones, long ones. All shapes and sizes. Then three hours later, I counted, they will come in with a wheelchair. Put me in it then wheel me away to whatever the task of the day is. Today it is going into that room with that person and answering some more questions. I know as they have a pattern of what happens and they just keep repeating it. After the questioning they will wheel me back to my room and I won't have any interaction until about six or seven hours later when they come again to my room with a tray of food, water and pills. Once I've finished my food and pills they take the tray and turn off the lights before they leave. Making me lie awake in pitch darkness. But today no one came with my food, water and pills. And after three hours no one came in to wheel me away. Climbing out of bed with shaky legs, oh this will be the first time that i’ve walked since, my bare feet touch the shiny floor making snake like shivers to sliver up my legs all the way to the top of my head, leaving goose bumps in their path. Tightly holding on to the bedframe I try my best to stand up straight. One step. Two steps. Stretching my arms out either side for balance I make it to the door. Locked of course what were you thinking phoebe that they would leave the door wide open. As I step away from the door the handle starts giggling and muffled voices headred from behind it. This is my chance. Looking around for something to use as a weapon my eyes lay on the vase sitting on the side table, a gift from the woman. Hobbling over and once there leaning on the table for support I pull out the ruby red tulips onto the table and pour the water on the floor. Woderling I press myself up against the wall, where once the door is open I would be hidden behind it. In for two, out for three. I breathed trying my best to steady my violently beating heart. The door flung open with so much force that it nearly hit me square in the head. Once it closed I saw a black figure looming in the room. “AHHHH!” screaming I raised the vase above my head and brought it down on the figure. As i did i got the smell of ginger cake. The figure soon hit the ground cradling their head as smashed bits of china lay scattered on the ground and in their hair. “Phoebe?” the figure asked. In a voice very familiar. “Oh s**t!”
