CHAPTER ONE.

KIRA. My father used to say some are born lucky, others unlucky while others? Their existence serve no purpose. He joked that the moon goddess must have been asleep when they were created. That or they're born to suffer or make others suffer. And by that definition, ' some', he was referring to me. I was the reason he died. And my step mother always made sure I remembered that. I stripped her the chance of a her true mate. Must be the reason why I can't find mine. What my mother did was unforgivable. That's the reason everyone hated me. And if I'm honest I don't blame them. Some faults are yours by blood. And enduring was my only way of atoning for her sins. ' How do you sleep with yourself at night? You killed your own parents and still think that the moon goddess can bless you with a mate? What wolf wants a mate like you? wolfless? ' Stella, my stepmother told me that when I had just turned eighteen. Attempting to go to the mate ball, everyone who was anyone went there with the prospect of finding a mate. And majority do, and a naive stupid part of me thought that I could be amongst them. I wanted to. Escaped only to be the laughing stock of Greenwood pack– not that I wasn't already, let's just say I made things worse for myself. Yet every year I would go with hopes of finding a mate, I was turning twenty one still unlucky. And that made me an even bigger laughing stock. Pathetic much? I already had given up on that. On the prospect, My step sisters already found theirs, Anika was mated to the Beta of our pack, Lia's mate was a ranked officer while Bea was yet to find hers, she's nineteen. Every unmated she wolf my age was long mated. Some think that it was the moon goddess's curse for killing my father. It's the reason no one in the pack treats me right. Lucky for me I had long gotten used to their taunt and insult. Some even beating, is the reason I run away from home and survive by working tirelessly. I worked in the border where most people traded. Even made a friend, just one though. We help each other out, she has her wolf so carrying things didn't tire out as much as it did me. Today was good. The money we made was enough to go by for a week at least. “ Will you buy a dress for this year's ball?" Sasha asks, I decline my shoulders slanting. " Haven't I had enough embarrassment to last me a century ?" she chuckles and I nudge her shoulders. “ I don't want to meet my mate if I'm honest," I glare at her in disbelief. Every she wolf of age wanted a mate. “ I mean..." her cheeks turn red. I narrow my eyes at her, " Just until I have joined the Academy, the moonsbane Academy. Where I can see him... Incase I, by some bad luck I'm not his mate, I want to sleep with him at least two or four." I gasp covering my mouth with both hands, “ Come on. what are you saving your self for... your mate must have had his fill that's the difference. You're wallowing in this... while he's going through women. it's a man's world Kira. They'll rule while we just stalk behind them. Might as well as beat them in their own game." “ No thanks," I remark shivering from just the obnoxious idea itself. Sasha is free spirited, outspoken and courageous. While I on the other hand, I was shy and still clings to the belief that only a mate would do all those things I keep hearing about. Isn't not like I had options, I have been singlehandedly deemed by everyone in greenwood the ugliest girl in the pack. My economic status didn't allow me to have friends like that. Greenwood pack was something else. Friends were made during balls, expensive soiree and deals. A live my stepmother had, because everything that belonged to my father she took them all. Plus he in laws were rich. I was happy for her. Even if she didn't help me one bit. It would be stupid to when I knew what he did to her. “ Wait... did you say Moonsbane Academy?" I question her rising myself up using my elbow. “ Yeah," she answers. “ Only the-" “ The strongest or richest go there. And by him I mean Florian freaking Vale," my mouth part, I sit upright. “He is the strongest Alpha in..." I stutter due to lack of better words. “ The world probably... A guy like that," she sighs unbothered still wearing the same smirk she has when she's planning mischief. “ Is suited for me. Now that's the only thing that's left is for be to be besides him." I shake my head. I have heard of Florian Vale. There's not a single wolf who doesn't know about him. We all know enough to what to stir clear from his path. Not that we'll ever meet. The werewolf kingdom was divided into seven parts. Each ruled by different Alpha's although they all reported back to the council, who in turn reported back to the the royals. The Royal bloodlines, the purest of the werewolf line. It's said when the werewolves were formed they were created differently from us. In terms of both speed and strength. There's a power that the Alpha king's son is said to hold more power than the council let own. But what do any of us know. We've never seen his face. The only thing we know about him is that Florian Vale protected the Prince of werewolves when he was about to be assassinated. Failed as the rumours claim because he was injured and as punishment he's not teach Moonsbane Academy as a professor. They called him the silver wolf. A rumour I suspect because it's unheard of for a wolf to have such hair. And maybe that's what quips everyone interest. I on the other hand don't have that luxury. I had better things to do.
