Jack and Beau moved at the same time. One heartbeat they were behind me. The next they were at the window with me, flanking me like shields made of muscle, fury, and very poor impulse control. The figure outside still didn't move. He stood at the tree line with perfect stillness. Head tilted. Hands relaxed at his sides. No wolf scent. No pack signature.
