- SERAPHINE When the sun hit my face the next morning, my first thought wasn’t about breakfast or the weather. It was about survival. I lay there for a second, staring at the ceiling, my head feeling strangely light. For the first time in weeks, the "grey fog" felt like it was lifting, probably because I’d flushed that little white pill down the drain last night. Usually, they forced me to take it under their watch, standing over me like guards until they saw me swallow and checked it again.
