The beast moved faster than anything I had ever seen. One second it stood at the edge of the trees, its white fur glowing beneath the moonlight. The next, it was flying toward me. "Move!" Kael roared. Something slammed into my side. The world spun. Kael tackled me just as the enormous wolf crashed into the place where I had been standing. Claws ripped through the wet earth, sending mud and gravel into the air. We rolled several feet before Kael twisted, shielding me with his own body. For a heartbeat, I couldn't breathe.
