"Okay, so you have a lot of explaining to do," I said as I yanked her into my room and crossed my arms. She looked at me, very amused. Then, she sauntered over to me as her eyes grew dark till they were black and the red specks in here were glowing. I was trying not to squirm under her gaze.
"Stop that," I said in a shaky voice. She smirked at this.
"What is it that I'm doing that you want me to stop?" She asked with faux innocence. She continued until she was right in front of me. I could feel my composure breaking.
"Umm. Stop... Stop looking at me like that." I said softly, caught in her gaze. She slowly leaned in as my eyes fluttered closed, awaiting a kiss that never came. Instead, I opened my eyes to find hers back to normal and a smirk on her face.
"Why'd you do that?" I said, pouting.
"You told me to stop." She said mischievously. I rolled my eyes at this; she knows that's not what I meant. At that moment, she walked over to me and gave me a sweet, chaste kiss.
"Alright, so what all do you want to know?" She asked, plopping herself down on my bed.
"I guess everything about you and the supernatural world," I said, sitting in front of her, excited to learn about her. I wonder if mermaids exist.
"Yes, they exist. Every creature you can think of from legends and folklore exist. I was turned into a vampire in the early 1700s along with my "brother" Lance. We lived in the same village in what became known as Italy. There was a crusade of many villages all over Europe by vampires. Our people constantly killed them and their families, and they decided to become the monster we sought them out to be.
We came to the united states in the 1800s. We fought for the North and even helped with the Underground Railroad, bringing enslaved people to the North to be liberated. That's actually how Lance met his soulmate, Elisia." I cut her off at that point. I was intrigued by soulmates.
"Wait, so you said soulmates? Like fanfiction s**t?" She chuckled and nodded her head.
"Yeah, like fanfiction s**t. Anyways," I cut her off again.
"Am I your soulmate?" She smiled at this.
"Yes, you are. Surprisingly." She said in a happy, disbelief state.
"Why do you say that?" She looked away from me for a second and took a deep breath before she faced me again.
"I consider myself very lucky to have met you. I say this because as supernaturals, we get one and only one soulmate; at least, I thought this was true. I had a mate before." She paused and looked at me, and I nodded, reassuring her to go on. You could see the pain in her eyes.
"In late 1896 is when I met her. Adeline. She was beautiful. She had Gorgeous curly dark hair with sea-green eyes that made my dead heart start beating again. Unfortunately, not everyone survives the transformation, and she was one of the unlucky ones who didn't. I still haven't forgiven myself. I promised her on her 23rd birthday that I would turn her if she that's what she wanted to do. Burying her was honestly the worst day of my life, and the day my heart stopped beating again, and I went back to being cold to the touch. See, finding our soulmates and them loving us back makes our hearts beat again. With that, we have more blood pumping through us, and we become warmer to the touch. After you and your soulmate finally mate, your heart will beat completely." Her gaze was drifting off as if she was remembering. She gave a heavy sigh, then turned to me.
"Huh, I wonder why you got two? Whatever is different, I'm glad it is. I'm glad you're my soulmate. You're not the only one who is lucky." I say, meaning every word. She smiled back at me.
"Me too. Me too. See, everybody seems to think it's weird that vampires have soulmates since they think we don't have souls. Indeed, some of us don't have souls, but that is determined when you're turned." This piece of information had me on the edge of my seat.
"What do you mean by that?" I questioned, intrigued.
"If you're a good person, and you ultimately want to keep your soul, you will. However, there are bad people who want to turn for all the wrong reasons and won't have a soul, while some turn and just choose not to have a soul. Those are the ones you should be scared of. They are the rabid ones that kill without reason and that don't have soulmates due to not having a soul." I felt my eyes grow bigger. I felt like a child learning about dinosaurs at this moment.
"Wow, that's crazy!" I said, astonished. She chuckled at my childishness.
"Okay, so, like what's up with the sun?" I asked
"Contrary to popular belief, we can walk in the sun. Obviously, you know this because you have seen me walk in the sun. And, no, we don't wear daylight rings or whatever. We are just more sensitive to it. I have prescription strength sunglasses to help keep the sun from irritating my eyes as much and a special sunscreen Chloe makes from her herbs and spells to keep me from getting extreme sunburns." I nodded my head that made sense. But, wait, Chole made it.
"What do you mean Chloe made it?" She made an "Oh" face.
"Right. I forgot to tell you; she's a witch." My jaw went slack.
"No. f*****g. Way! I'm going to talk all about this with her tomorrow." I said excitedly while she just laughed at my antics.
"Okay, so any other interesting things about vampires and the supernatural world?" She pondered in thought for a moment before answering me.
"Werewolves and vampires are not mortal enemies. They can go all lone-wolf and kill people just as much as a soulless vampire can. Well, as much as any bad person can, human or supernatural. So we all help each other protect people and protect the identity of all supernatural creatures. This is the same for witches. They help keep the veil closed, so humans don't discover us and our hidden world. You would think the hidden world where almost all supernatural creatures roam would have a super cool name, but it doesn't. Instead, it's called Alium; in Latin, it basically means "Different." Wow, this conversation and information being given just keep getting better and better.
"There is such a thing as the supernatural council—basically, representatives or "Kings" and "Queens" of each species. There are even humans a part of this council. Lance and I are the representatives of the Vampires seeing as we helped bring all supernatural creatures together and helped start the council. We got on the good graces of all witches and had their help to make a supernatural world safe for all supernaturals. You can choose to move from one world to the other. Of course, there were only 14 portals. Two on each continent, there is patrol at each portal to see why you are coming and going, basically to make sure no one has bad intentions. That's actually why My brother and I are in La Jolla, California. One of the portals is here. We help monitor it along with the Delvauxs." I signaled for her to keep going.
"The Delvauxs are the most powerful bloodline of witches. This is Chloe's lineage. They date back to 1595 in Belgium when her many greats grandfather Jean Delvaux "died" being executed for witchcraft. A vampire by the name of Christoph saved him. The family migrated to Salem, where my brother and I saved them and the other witch families from death. Ever since then, the Delvauxs and Ambrogios have been very close. I remember when Chloe was born, the moment our eyes met, I knew that she would be my best friend." She smiled fondly, reflecting on the memory of Chloe being born.
"That is seriously so cool. My best friend is a badass. How did you know she would be your best friend?" She nodded her head at this.
"Right well, we don't always make connections intimately; sometimes they are like a family imprint or bond. Chloe and I have that she is basically like my little sister, and I will protect her with my life. I know I'll have at least a hundred years with her, which makes me happy. That's the average life for a witch, by the way, there are some immortal witches, but it comes at a price since it's against nature." Wow. Just wow.
"Wow, I'm stunned for sure. One more thing. You can read minds, so do all vampires have special gifts?" She chuckled and shook her head no.
"Only some of us have unique gifts. We all are fast, strong, immortal, and can manipulate anyone into doing pretty much anything we want them to do. However, some vampires get a little more. For example, I can read people's minds and feel/manipulate emotions. My brother is just a little stronger and faster than the average vampire and has great control when dealing with blood. I mean, I would hope. Hence, he is a doctor. Elisia, she can see the future just by touching you. This is one main reason as to why she became a guidance counselor/school therapist so she can guide people to be the best they can be, and scope out the horrible people." She lends closer to me. "If you ask me, I think she is a bit codependent, seeing as how she believes she can and always wants to change, fix, and save people." We both laughed at this. Supernaturals are so interesting.
"That's awesome; anything else?" She shook her head no.
"Not that I can think of right now, but if something else comes to my mind or yours that I haven't covered, I will. Now get over here and cuddle." I crawled over to her and into her arms. This is where I always want to be.
"You're a little warmer. When did you say that you will have a heartbeat again?" She hummed at this.
"It's already begun; that's why I'm getting warmer. When we legitimately accept each other and fully bond, my heart will beat fully." Interesting.
"Fully bonded? Did you fully bond with Adeline?" She kind of tensed at this, which already gave me my answer. I'm not going to be upset about something that happened in her past or jealous of someone who doesn't have any part in our relationship now.
"Well, first we say we accept each other out loud. Then when we are ready, we basically just have s*x, I bite to mark you, and that's that." She cleared her throat a little afterward. I could feel myself blushing.
"Oh. Right. Makes sense, makes sense. So how do I accept you out loud?" She shifted to where we were face to face.
"You want to accept me?" She asked, seeming surprised.
"Obviously. Why wouldn't I accept you? Now, how do I do it?" She stood up and brought me with her. She grabbed my hands as we faced each other, our eyes never looking away from one another.
"Alright, first, we cannot break eye contact, or this will not work. Now, once I'm done saying my part repeat what I said, but of course, switch the names accordingly. I will have to use your true first name, so be prepared. I, Emma Ambrogio, accept you Amelia Valdez as my beloved for always." I cringed at hearing my full first name but made sure not to break eye contact.
"I, Amilia Valdez, accept you, Emma Ambrogio, as my beloved for always." Suddenly, I felt this electrifying warmth rush throughout my body, making me gasp. I saw Emma have the same reaction. At this moment, her eyes turned to that of her vampire side. I will always be mesmerized by that transformation. Once the rush stopped, I felt warmth radiate throughout my body, but the electrifying feeling didn't happen unless Emma touched me.
"Wow, I-" I got caught off by Emma's lips on mine. It was a tender kiss filled with love. Her lips had a lot more warmth than they did before. I broke the kiss and put my ear to her chest to hear it beating more. I looked back up at her with a huge smile on my face.
"I love you so much," I said wholeheartedly. She smiled at me and brought me closer, kissing me on my forehead.
"Oh, my beloved. I am very much in love with you." She said with happiness in her voice.
