William did not immediately answer the question Arthur asked him, because he was still confused about whether he should tell Arthur about the intruders who entered the pack before. Since Issac was currently still working on the intruder problem, if William wanted to be honest he would have to tell Arthur the whole story.
Again, before William had the chance to open his mouth to tell Arthur what was happening, he saw that Issac was walking quickly from a distance to welcome his parents.
Immediately William covered his mouth and let Issac take over the situation. Previously William told Issac via their mind-link, "I haven't said anything yet, so it's all up to you now." Of course William will tell this to Issac, he doesn't want his Alpha again to be punished for speaking wrong.
