Chapter3

Xavier's pov

I sat down in the office pacing about. Finally, after waiting for years, my mate was finally here .

After contemplating for a while, I decided to go see her as I wondered what I was going to say. I have never been so speechless in a long time.

I opened the door after taking a few deep breaths.

"I stood frozen, my heart pounding in my chest as I beheld her. The moonlight danced across her face, illuminating the porcelain skin and delicate features that had haunted my dreams for centuries.

She was even more breathtaking than I imagined, she was so beautiful like a fine wine aged to perfection. Her eyes, those piercing green orbs, sparkled with a fire that seemed to burn brighter with every passing moment.

My gaze roamed over her, drinking in the curves and contours of her body. The gentle swell of her lips, the elegant line of her neck, the soft flush of her cheeks. Every inch of her was etched into my memory, every detail seared into my soul.

I had waited so long for this moment. Centuries of searching, of longing, of longing to hold her in my arms . And now, here she stood, within reach.

My hands trembled with restraint as I fought the urge to claim her, to pull her close and never let her go. The wolf within me howled in triumph, its patience rewarded after an eternity of waiting.

'You're mine,' I whispered under my breath, my voice barely audible over the pounding of my heart. 'You've always been mine.'

Her eyes widened, as she stared at me, observing my every move like she was afraid of something.

I took a step closer, my movements deliberate, my eyes locked on hers. The air was thick with tension.

'You don't know how long I've waited for you,' I whispered. 'How long I've searched.' " I said as I sat down beside her, maintaining enough distance not to be scared.

And at that moment, I knew I would never let her go."

I was amazed at how beautiful and fragile she was, as I was also aware that she was already awake.

I tried asking her about her name just to see what she said as I badly wanted to hear her voice, but I didn't get any reply from her, which made me frustrated. I held back myself as I didn't want to force her into anything or make her scared of me,

I was about to give up when I heard a tiny yet heavenly voice say "Selene", which I repeated after her, as the name was beautiful but not as much as she was,

I told her dinner would be ready in 30 minutes, and I'd send a maid to take her bath and bring her fresh clothes. With which, I left her room and went to mine, which was directly opposite her's. I quickly took my bath as the urge to see her overwhelmed me as I rushed to the dining room to wait for her.

After waiting for her for about 40 minutes, I went to her room to see what was taking her so long. After knocking multiple times, I went inside and found out she wasn't there, as I was about to mind link the pack. I heard sobbing coming from the bathroom. I rushed into the bathroom and, as to say I was shocked will be an understatement. What happened here I thought to myself, but I pushed all thoughts aside as I saw her shivering and crying. As she noticed my presence, she looked at me with her round doe eyes that were glittering with the tears in them.

She started rambling on about how she didn't mean for it to happen, and she would accept any punishment. I could not take it anymore so I shut her up with a kiss on the forehead, telling her not to worry about anything. I carried them in bridal style to the room as I gently lay her down on the bed and took off my already wet shirt to warm her up. I cuddled her and tried to calm her down from crying. Slowing the crying turned into sobbing. Then I realized that she had fallen asleep. I had time to gaze at her body, but the sight of her bruises made me wish I had got to her sooner, which increased my urge to keep her safe and make her mine.

I tucked her in as soon as I heard her snoring lightly, after which I went to my room and took a cold bath to calm my wolf, because being that close to her has done unimaginable things to me.

SELENE POV

I woke up as the sun peeped through the window. I felt my wolf whine, as I could feel some sort of emptiness, not that it was new. But this feeling was new. It felt as if I missed someone.

I mentally slapped myself as I remembered I had found my mate and also how I had fooled myself in front of him, "he must want to reject me ". I thought to myself, which brought tears to my eyes at the thought of being abandoned again by the person whom the moon goddess promised would love me.

I was brought out of my thoughts as a soft knock was heard on the door. I swiped at my eyes, taking a few deep breaths as I called for the person to enter.

A man who introduced himself as the royal butler came in, giving me a short bow. He took one look at me, but he said nothing as he chose to look anywhere else but me.

"Luna, Alpha Xavier has gone out on important work and will be back at dawn. He has asked me to serve you breakfast and give you a tour around the mansion if you would like" he said, ensuring to look everywhere but me. I was about to refuse when I realized that there was no need to be brisk with the help, as I was already almost bored out of my mind and would appreciate leaving the walls of this room.

"Just give me an hour to get ready," I said awkwardly.

"Breakfast will be served as soon as you arrive," he said immediately after which he bowed again and left.

I rushed into the bathroom and tried as much as possible not to push more than one button to avoid disaster. Luckily, on the first try, warm water cascaded on me and I smoothed my tense muscles, and my shoulders finally relaxed. I loosened my hair from the bun and scrubbed my aching scalp.

I got out of the shower once I had rinsed the soap off my body and shampooed my hair. I wrapped myself in a towel as I realized that I had no clothes to wear. I walked out of the bathroom as I clung to my towel hoping that no one would come into the room.

I opened the door next to the bathroom and I felt relief as it happened to be a walk-in closet. I searched around for something I could wear but all the clothes were too large, and they all smelled strongly like my mate, making my wolf jump in excitement. After searching for a while, I found jogger's pants and a shirt that stopped at my mid-thigh. With that, I went out of the room to find the butler who promised me a tour, but as soon as I stepped out of the room, I realized I had no idea about where to go.

I stood there confused about not where to find the butler, but instead of going back inside the room to wait for him, my stubborn self decided to go down the hallway and see where it led. As I walked through the phrase, it made me wonder how rich this alpha was and how big and beautiful this mansion was.

I was still wandering around the mansion when my stomach rumbled in hunger, reminding me of how I had not eaten the previous night till now.

"Luna, I sincerely apologize, I could have checked on you earlier," the butler said as he bowed. As he saw me that I was obviously lost in the house.

I could not understand why he felt so guilty. I was the one who decided to go downstairs.

Not knowing what to do, I nodded in response so as not to make the whole thing more awkward than it already is.

After he had apologized, he gestured for me to follow him. Which I did as he took me to the dining room, filled with different breakfast food. I stood there salivating, but I couldn't help it as i had never seen this much good food.

Immediately, I dived into it savoring the sweet and tasty meal as I felt

my taste buds explode with excitement with every bite
