Chapter 03

CHAPTER 3 GABRIEL Henry once again managed to make his nanny quit. Truth is, he doesn't feel comfortable with anyone except me and Lucia, who is almost like a grandmother to him. My son is my greatest treasure even though I spend a lot of time away from him. I need to work to provide the best for him. Today, I took the day off just to conduct interviews. There have been four in total, considering that two of them don't even like children. I don't even know why they come to a nanny interview if they don't like kids, I mean, come on. When Lucia informed me that the last candidate had arrived, I dismissed her and analyzed the young woman in front of me—nothing inappropriate, enchanting eyes, rosy lips, hair half tied up. She stood there, not sure what she was waiting for. Oh right, I have to conduct the interview. Focus, Gabriel. Gabriel: Please, sit, Miss Richards. Hanna: Excuse me. – she said, sitting down and crossing her legs. Gabriel: I don't know if you know, but this is an interview for a nanny position. I saw her open and close her mouth, but nothing came out. Gabriel: Is there a problem? Hanna: No, sir, I just didn't know it was for a nanny. Gabriel: Do you have problems with children? Hanna: None, I love children. - she replied without hesitation. Gabriel: Then why the surprise? Hanna: I thought it was for a cook or something else. I liked it. She was sincere and looked me in the eyes when she spoke, a sign that it's true. Gabriel: No, it's to take care of my son Henry. Since I work and Lucia has household duties, I need someone available and willing to take care of him, as he is quite energetic. Hanna: Sorry to ask, but how old is he? Gabriel: Five years old. Tell me, Miss, would you have a problem sleeping here? She thought and bit her lower lip, which was telling. Hanna: Actually, I couldn't unless it was absolutely necessary. Gabriel: And why? Are you married? Hanna: No! It's just that my mother is sick, but I'll find a way if I'm hired. Gabriel: Very well, we'll do a trial. If you can handle Henry for a week, I'll hire you. Hanna: Really? When do I start? Gabriel: Tomorrow, and bring clothes for a week, be here tomorrow at 7. Hanna: All right. Gabriel: You can go. See you tomorrow. Hanna: See you tomorrow, sir. As soon as she left, I became even more curious about her.
