Chapter 4
HANNA
I couldn't believe I would be on a trial period for a week, and if all goes well, I'd be hired. I can't wait to talk to my mother.
It took me a little longer to get home, but as soon as I arrived, despair took over me. An ambulance was leaving my house. I barely entered, and I already saw Mrs. Sueli in the living room. As soon as she saw me, she approached me, her eyes red, probably from crying.
Hanna: Mrs. Sueli, what's happening?
Where's my mother?
Sueli: Calm down, dear. Come on, I'll explain what's going on.
We went to the kitchen, and while she made some tea, she started to speak.
Sueli: As you requested, I waited an hour after you left before checking on your mother. When I entered, I called for her but got no response. I went to her room, and she was lying on the floor. I called the ambulance and explained everything. Because of her condition, they took her for some tests. They will call to inform when she is released.
As she spoke, I felt tears streaming down my face.
Sueli: She will be fine, Hanna. You need to calm down. I'll stay here with you.
Hanna: Thank you, Mrs. Sueli. You are a good friend to my mom.
I drank the tea and tried to stay calm, hoping that mom would soon be out of the hospital and everything would be alright.
