Chapter 24: A Glimpse of the Past Ava's eyes fluttered open as she slowly came to. She was still in the hospital, surrounded by the beeping machines and sterile smells. But something was different. Liam was no longer by her side. Instead, a kind-faced doctor was standing over her, smiling. "Ava, how are you feeling?" he asked. Ava tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through her head and she fell back onto the pillow. "I...I don't know," she stammered. The doctor nodded sympathetically. "You've been through a traumatic experience, Ava. It's going to take some time for you to recover." Ava's eyes began to wander around the room, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings. That's when she saw it - a small photo on the bedside table. It was a picture of her and Liam, smiling and happy. Ava
