Let Them Fight for Me

410 Words
Pearl I spent years being chosen, claimed, rejected, and wanted again like a damn prize in a war. Not anymore. Let them burn. Let them fight. Let them finally see what it means to chase a Luna who no longer waits to be picked. The council hall was buzzing. Word had spread. River’s return had cracked the pack’s walls open—emotionally and politically. Some warriors remembered him as a kind-hearted rebel. Others remembered the chaos he left behind. Now? They saw him as a threat… and a rival to Ezra. But me? I saw options. Ezra I could barely focus. Pearl hadn’t spoken to me since River arrived. Not even a glare. Not a whisper. That silence was louder than her anger. “You need to control your Luna,” Elder Thorne snapped beside me. “This rebellion cannot begin inside your own house.” “She’s not a rebellion,” I said through clenched teeth. “She’s the storm we built a fence around and pretended we could tame.” The doors burst open. She walked in. Black fitted dress. Gold chain down her back. Chin high, lips painted like sin. The whole room paused. So did my breathing. “Good evening, gentlemen,” she said sweetly. “Did I miss the part where you decided my future without me?” She turned and looked straight at me. “You said I wasn’t safe.” “You’re not,” I said, standing. “Then maybe the safest place is between two Alphas instead of just one.” Gasps filled the room. My jaw clenched. River’s mouth curled into a half-smile like he’d just won a round he didn’t fight for. “So you want both of us now?” I snapped, heat rising. “I want what I deserve,” she said calmly. “A choice. Respect. And a voice louder than any claim you mark me with.” She moved forward, standing between us, but not touching either one. “Let’s make one thing clear,” she said, her voice echoing through the chamber. “I’m not a bone for wolves to fight over. I am the damn fire, and you’ll both burn if you don’t back up.” Even the Elders looked stunned. River grinned like she’d just married him with that speech. I stood frozen, wild with lust, fury, and awe. She didn’t just take her power back. She turned it on.
