Pearl's face turned an ashen color. She knew that in front of Noah, there was no room for excuses, but admitting the truth was too difficult to utter. Noah checked his watch and said indifferently, "I won't be staying for dinner. I need to take her with me." His straightforward words left no doubt in Pearl's mind about his intentions. With a heavy heart, she went upstairs. Upon opening the bedroom door, Pearl found Faith, disheveled and exhausted. Faith, immediately alert, asked, "Is Noah here?" Glaring at Faith's state, Pearl was filled with anger but knew this wasn't the time for outbursts. She tried to assume a motherly tone, smoothing Faith's hair. "I had no choice. You know your father's temper. If I don't keep an eye on you, we both will suffer." Faith's face remained cold.
