Chapter 2

1359 Words
Eunice cried so hard in the middle of the forest and didn’t mind if some Lycans would be frozen into death. She’s deeply hurt at what happened. Her heart clenched in pain, seeing how her mate chose the other she-wolf because he was his first mate. Eunice already knew they felt the same, but what happened to them? “Moon Goddess,” she sobbed while trying to talk to their God. Moon Goddess is the one who’s in charge of matching everyone to their mate, and everyone knows about that, but her case is different because her mate rejected her. “Why are you doing this to me?” she asked her. “All I wanted was to find my mate but what did you do? Is there something wrong with your matchmaking?” Eunice hoped to talk to their Moon Goddess, but she didn’t hear anything from her. She was trying to convince herself that everything was just a dream, a nightmare, but she could feel the pain every time she bit her wrist. “I’m asking you, Moon Goddess! Why?” she begged, but she didn’t hear anything. Her jaw clenched, and the forest temperature became -90°F, causing their country to be filled with snow. “I love him,” she uttered and bit her lower lip. Their memories together suddenly appeared in her mind. Those memories they created when they were together briefly flashed back in her mind. She misses those memories, but those happy memories become sad. “Moon Goddess,” Eunice called for her name again. “He’s my mate, right? Tell me. I’m begging you to answer my question, Moon Goddess, because if he’s not my mate then I’ll turn this world into ice. I’ll freeze everyone into death until they beg for me to stop.” But no one answered her question even if she tried to talk to her. So, she had no choice but to freeze the world as she wanted. She doesn’t care anymore if they would be mad at her. They all know that once she gets enraged, hurt, or something, she will use her ability to weaken everyone until they ask for her forgiveness. After that scenario, she went to her house to get some rest. It was just a few miles away from the forest, but she managed to go there for about an hour by running as fast as she could. “You’ve use your ability again, Eunice,” Jasmine whispered when she arrived at Eunice’s house. She wore a thick coat to lessen the cold, but it was useless, so she tried to rub her palms while looking at her friend, who seemed not in her right mind. “Is there something wrong?” she asked because she was unfamiliar with Eunice’s ability. “You can talk to me.” “He left me, Jasmine,” Eunice uttered as her voice trembled. Her friend, Jasmine, couldn’t believe what had happened and just stared at her friend, who was on the verge of crying, but she tried her best to avoid it by blinking many times. “What do you mean?” she asked when she finally processed everything. “You know that your mate can’t just leave you. It’s like you’re his other half so I couldn’t understand what you are saying right now, Eunice.” “He left me because his first mate returned,” Eunice retorted before glancing at her puzzled friend. “I’m his second mate.” “That’s absurd, Eunice,” Jasmine mumbled, covering her mouth with her palm. “You’re just trying to make me laugh, right? But it’s not funny, Eunice.” “I wish I could, but I’m not.” Eunice wiped her tears, fell to her cheek, and smirked at her friend. “I saw it with my eyes, and I heard it right.” “How? I mean,” Jasmine had no choice but to shake her head since she couldn’t believe what she just heard. “That’s impossible. Once you found your mate, the Alpha would not be in his right mind because he waited for so long just to find you.” “Well, our case is different, Jasmine,” Eunice mumbled and crossed her legs. She raised her hand and made a little dagger using her ability while thinking of a different kind of design and then played with it. “It was rare,” she purred. “He had two mates. Out of millions of Lycans, he was chosen to have two mates.” “You knew that Moon Goddess can’t do that,” Jasmine tried to look for a reason to defend the Moon Goddess, but Eunice laughed sarcastically. “She can,” Eunice said before she crushed the dagger she made by thinking about it. “She’s the Moon Goddess after all. The Goddess of different creatures. She had the power to match us from what she wanted but instead of giving me a mate, she gave me a huge problem that I will surely carry until my last breath.” “Eunice.” Jasmine can’t help but feel bad for her friend because she knows that her problem will significantly impact her. But she didn’t know what to do since her case was rare and happened again after a thousand years. “I’m sorry,” she muttered. “I’m okay, Jasmine,” Eunice said, trying to lighten the atmosphere but knowing that her friend wouldn’t believe her. “I can handle this.” “Stop saying that. We both know how hurt it is, Eunice. I’ve been your friend for a hundred years and know when you are happy or hurting,” Jasmine gritted. “Stop lying.” “I’m not. I’m trying to be okay.” Eunice let out a deep breath and let out a soft chuckle. “I’m trying my best.” “Don’t force yourself if you can’t. Your ability proves that you can’t control your emotions, so what’s the point of lying, Eunice? Why are you doing this? Why is it so easy for you to hide your emotions even if your ability is screaming in pain?” Jasmine exclaimed to her friend. “I hate you for wearing your mask. It’s okay to cry. It’s okay to get hurt, but why are you suppressing it?” “Because I’m not used to crying when I’m with someone else, Jasmine!” she yelled, glaring at her. “I’m not used to it. I can’t. I’m tired of expressing my emotions, so I tried hiding them from everyone, even you.” Jasmine had no choice but to shut her mouth and tried her best to listen to Eunice’s explanation. She’s trying her best to understand her friend even if she wants to know what she’s feeling right now, but her friend can’t. “I’m tired of getting judged, Jasmine,” Eunice explained. “Every wolf was trying to judge me if I did something good or bad so what’s the point of voicing out your emotions if I can just hug them when I’m alone?” Eunice glanced out her window, watching the snowfall. Somehow, it calms her to see the snow, her ability to cover their world. “I hate to say this but don’t mind me,” Eunice soothes her friend. “Just give me time to calm myself.” Her tears begin to fall when her friend leaves her in her residence. Ever since she was born, she always got hurt. Her parents died because of the hunters. She did her best to survive with the help of her butler and their maids. They trained her to be strong, but everything shattered when she was rejected by her mate, Percival. “Ma’am Eunice,” the maid said upon entering her room. She saw Eunice crying and turned her room into ice. The Lycans she’s with were wearing a thick hoodie to survive from her ability. They trained her to control her ability, but tonight was different because whenever she felt something hurt her, she would turn everything into ice.
